These pages help you work out zakat in rupees on gold, silver, cash, savings and business stock. Zakat is 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth, once it has stayed at or above the nisab for a full lunar year.
The zakat calculator adds up your assets, takes off debts due now and checks the total against the nisab. It uses the latest gold and silver rates, which you can change to match your local market.
To see the current nisab in rupees, and the separate nisab the government uses for bank deductions, open zakat nisab 2026.
Two kinds of nisab
The nisab is the minimum wealth on which zakat is due. It is set in weight: 7.5 tola of gold or 52.5 tola of silver. Its rupee value moves with metal prices.
At the rates of 28 September 2026 from the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the silver nisab is 52.5 x Rs 6,578 = Rs 345,345. The gold nisab is 7.5 x Rs 438,136 = Rs 3,286,020.
The government also sets a bank nisab each Ramadan. Banks deduct zakat on 1 Ramadan from savings accounts above that figure. For Ramadan 2026 it was Rs 503,529. This bank figure is not the same as your personal nisab. Many scholars advise the silver nisab when your wealth is a mix of cash, gold and other assets.
Common questions
How much is zakat?
Zakat is 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth. If your cash, savings, gold and other zakatable assets come to Rs 1,000,000 after debts due now, your zakat is Rs 25,000. It is due only if that total is at or above the nisab and has been held for a full lunar year.
Should I use the gold or silver nisab?
If you own only gold and nothing else zakatable, the gold nisab of 7.5 tola applies. If your wealth is a mix, many scholars advise the silver nisab of 52.5 tola, since it is lower and more people pay. Our calculator lets you choose. Ask a scholar you trust if you are unsure.
If my bank deducted zakat, do I still owe any?
Possibly. The bank deducts only on the balance in certain accounts on 1 Ramadan. It does not count your gold, cash at home or other savings. Work out your full zakat, then subtract what the bank took. If you have filed a declaration to stop bank deduction, you pay all of it yourself.
Is zakat due on my house or car?
Not on a home you live in, a car you use or household goods. Zakat is due on wealth such as cash, bank balances, gold, silver, trade stock and money owed to you that you expect to get back. Investments held for trade or savings usually count too.
