These calculators work out income tax on a salary in Pakistan. They use the salaried slabs from the Finance Act for each year, and show the tax for the year and for each month. The newest table is for 2026-27, which runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.
Most people should start with the salary tax calculator. Enter your monthly pay and it shows the tax your employer should deduct and your take-home pay. To see the full rate table, open income tax slabs.
If you want to compare years, there is a page for each one: 2026-27, 2025-26 and 2024-25. These help when you are checking an old payslip or a past deduction.
What changed for 2026-27
The 2026-27 table has eight slabs, up from six in 2025-26. The first two slabs did not change. Income up to Rs 600,000 a year is tax free, and the next Rs 600,000 is taxed at 1%.
From Rs 2,200,000 upwards the rates are lower than last year. The 9% surcharge on salaried people earning over Rs 10 million a year has also been removed.
Example: Rs 300,000 a month
A salary of Rs 300,000 a month is Rs 3,600,000 a year. That falls in the slab from Rs 3,200,001 to Rs 4,100,000.
- 2026-27: Rs 316,000 + 25% of Rs 400,000 = Rs 416,000 a year, about Rs 34,667 a month.
- 2025-26: Rs 346,000 + 30% of Rs 400,000 = Rs 466,000 a year, about Rs 38,833 a month.
So the same salary pays Rs 50,000 less tax a year in 2026-27.
Common questions
How much salary is tax free in Pakistan in 2026-27?
Salary up to Rs 600,000 a year is tax free for 2026-27. That is Rs 50,000 a month. Above that, the next Rs 600,000 is taxed at 1%, so a salary of Rs 1,200,000 a year pays Rs 6,000 in tax. The same limit applied in 2025-26 and 2024-25.
Is the tax year the same as the financial year?
Yes. Pakistan's tax year for salaried people runs from 1 July to 30 June. FBR calls the year ending 30 June 2027 "tax year 2027", and most people call it 2026-27. Our pages use the 2026-27 style because that is how payslips and news reports usually describe it.
Why does my payslip show a different tax figure?
Your employer may spread the yearly tax over the months left in the year, or adjust for bonuses, arrears or tax already deducted. Any exempt allowances also change the taxable figure. Our calculator uses the full slab rule on the salary you enter. Your payslip and FBR records are the final word.
Do these calculators cover business income?
No. They use the slabs for salaried individuals only. Non-salaried individuals and associations of persons have a different slab table and still pay a 10% surcharge on taxable income above Rs 10 million. If most of your income is from business or rent, please check with a tax adviser.
