A UK visit visa for up to 6 months costs £135 from Pakistan since 8 April 2026. The Home Office lists it at Rs 50,799 in its Pakistan fee table. A student visa costs £558 and a spouse or partner visa £2,064, and both also need the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), which is often the bigger cost.

The rupee column is the Home Office's own conversion. Your card is charged in pounds, so the rupee amount on your statement follows your bank's rate. Priority fees did not change in April 2026.
How the Immigration Health Surcharge is worked out
The IHS is charged for the whole length of the visa, not only your course or job.
- £1,035 a year for most applicants, including Skilled Worker and family visas.
- £776 a year for students, their dependants and anyone under 18 when they apply.
- A part year of 6 months or less is charged at half the yearly rate. More than 6 months is charged as a full year.
- A visa of 6 months or less applied for from outside the UK has no surcharge. Visitors never pay it.
- Health and Care Worker visa holders and their dependants are exempt.
A spouse visa is normally granted for 33 months. That is 2 full years plus 9 months, and 9 months counts as a full year, so the IHS is 3 x £1,035 = £3,105.

A one year master's with a September start usually gets a visa of about 16 months once the extra time before and after the course is added. The IHS counts 1 year plus 4 months, which is 1.5 years.

Visit visa choices for Pakistani families
Most first-time visitors take the 6 month visa at £135. Parents who visit children in the UK every year often choose a long-term visit visa, which still allows stays of up to 6 months at a time:
- 2 years: £506, 3.75 times the 6 month fee
- 5 years: £903
- 10 years: £1,128
Children pay the same visit fee as adults. A family of two parents and two children on 2 year visas pays 4 x £506 = £2,024. The Home Office can grant a shorter visa than the one you paid for, and the difference is not refunded, so a long visa is worth it mainly for people with a record of earlier UK visits.
You apply online on gov.uk and give biometrics at a visa application centre in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or Mirpur. Mirpur is a paid centre and charges £76.50 per applicant on top of the visa fee. The other centres charge nothing for a standard appointment.
Priority and super priority
The usual wait for a visit, study or work visa decision from outside the UK is about 3 weeks, and longer for family visas. You can pay for speed per applicant:
- Priority visa: £500, decision usually within 5 working days
- Super priority visa: £1,000, decision usually by the end of the next working day
These fees buy a faster decision, not a better chance of approval. A 6 month visit visa with priority costs £635 per person.
The visa fee and IHS are paid online in pounds. If the visa is refused, the visa fee is kept but the IHS is refunded to your card. Check the amount on the gov.uk payment page before you pay.
