These calculators work out your GPA and CGPA using each university's own grading table. Universities in Pakistan do not all grade the same way. The marks needed for an A, the grade points for a B+ and even the passing mark can differ.

These calculators work out your admission aggregate using each institution's published formula. An aggregate combines your entry test, intermediate and matric marks, each with its own weight. Small differences in the formula can change your merit position.

For medical and dental admissions, the MDCAT aggregate calculator uses the PMDC weighting of 50% MDCAT, 40% FSc and 10% matric. For engineering and other programmes, start with the page for your university, such as NUST, UET Lahore, FAST or Punjab University.

GPA, CGPA and credit hours

GPA is your grade point average for one semester. CGPA is the average across every semester so far. Both are weighted by credit hours, so a 4 credit hour course counts twice as much as a 2 credit hour course.

To work out a GPA, multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours. Add these up and divide by the total credit hours. For CGPA, do the same across all semesters. Do not simply average your semester GPAs unless every semester had the same credit hours.

Some universities, such as UAF, work from marks and quality points rather than letter grades. Our university pages follow each one's own rule, so you do not need to convert anything first.

Common questions

What is the difference between GPA and CGPA?

GPA covers one semester. CGPA is the running average of all semesters completed so far, weighted by credit hours. If you had a GPA of 3.5 in a 15 credit hour semester and 3.0 in a 18 credit hour semester, your CGPA is closer to 3.0 because the second semester carries more weight.

How do I convert CGPA to percentage?

HEC publishes a table that maps grade point bands to percentage bands. For example, a CGPA from 3.67 to 4.00 falls in the 85 to 100 band. Our CGPA to percentage calculator uses that table. Some universities print their own conversion on the transcript, and that takes priority.

Why does my university have its own GPA calculator page?

Grading tables differ. One university may give 3.67 for an A-, another may start an A at 85 marks and another at 80. Using the wrong table can move your GPA by a tenth of a point or more. Each of our university pages names the table it follows.

How an aggregate is worked out

Every aggregate follows the same shape. Each part is your marks divided by the total marks, multiplied by that part's weight. The parts are then added up.

Example: MDCAT

Say you scored 150 out of 180 in MDCAT, 950 out of 1100 in FSc and 1000 out of 1100 in matric.

  • MDCAT: 150 / 180 x 50 = 41.6667
  • FSc: 950 / 1100 x 40 = 34.5455
  • Matric: 1000 / 1100 x 10 = 9.0909

The aggregate is 85.3030%.

What changes between universities is the weights and which marks count. NUST gives the entry test 75%. UET uses FSc Part I marks rather than the full FSc. Each page lists its own rule and where it comes from.

Common questions

Is the MDCAT weighting changing?

A Senate sub-committee has proposed cutting the MDCAT weight from 50%, but as of September 2026 this is only a proposal. The PMDC Admissions Regulations 2025 still set 50% MDCAT, 40% FSc and 10% matric. We will update the calculator only if PMDC formally changes the rule.

Do Hafiz-e-Quran students get extra marks?

Not for MBBS and BDS. PMDC removed the 20 extra marks in 2023 and the 2025 regulations have no hafiz bonus. Some universities still give extra marks for other programmes. Where a university does, its calculator page shows the option.

Why do some universities use FSc Part I marks?

Admissions often close before FSc Part II results come out. So universities such as UET and UAF use your Part I marks for the merit list. Check your university's notice to see which marks it asks for.

Does a high aggregate guarantee admission?

No. Your aggregate decides your place on the merit list, but closing merit depends on seats, applicants and quotas that year. Past closing merits are a rough guide only. The university's own merit list is final.
