UVAS merit is 30% Matric plus 70% Intermediate Part I. There is no entry test. The university's own example, Matric 900/1,100 and Part I 540/555, gives 92.6535%.
UVAS says all calculations are done "up to 4 decimal places without rounding". So the calculator cuts off after four decimals instead of rounding up.
The UVAS formula
Merit = (Matric ÷ total × 30) + (Inter Part I ÷ total × 70), truncated to four decimals.
UVAS's own example
- Matric: 900 ÷ 1,100 × 30 = 24.5454 (the full figure is 24.54545..., cut to 24.5454)
- Part I: 540 ÷ 555 × 70 = 68.1081
- Merit: 92.6535%
The calculator gives the same 92.6535 for these marks. Note the Part I total of 555 in that example. Board totals differ, so always enter your own.
Why truncation matters
Rounding and truncating differ only in the fourth decimal. On a list where hundreds of candidates are packed within one mark, that can move you a place or two. A calculator that rounds can show a UVAS figure 0.0001 higher than UVAS's own.
Second example
Matric 1,000 out of 1,100 and Part I 480 out of 550.
- Matric: 1,000 ÷ 1,100 × 30 = 27.2727
- Part I: 480 ÷ 550 × 70 = 61.0909
- Merit: 88.3636%

How is UVAS merit calculated?

Is there an entry test for UVAS?
Not in the 2026 merit formula. UVAS merit is based only on Matric (30%) and Intermediate Part I (70%) marks. Some programmes may still have other eligibility conditions, such as subject combinations, so read the admission notice for your programme.
Why does my UVAS merit differ from another calculator?
Calculators that round will differ in the last digit. UVAS truncates, so a figure like 88.36364 stays 88.3636 and 24.54545 becomes 24.5454. Some sites also use full FSc instead of Part I, which gives a quite different answer.
Does UVAS give Hafiz marks?
Yes, 20 marks for Hafiz-e-Quran candidates, subject to a test by the university. Tick the Hafiz box and the calculator adds them to your Part I marks. With Part I at 70% weight, 20 marks out of 550 adds about 2.5 points.
