Enter the gas used (in hm3) and the GCV from your SNGPL bill. For a non-protected home using 1.2 hm3 at an example GCV of 950, the estimate is about Rs 7,945. A protected home using 0.9 hm3 pays about Rs 1,889.
SNGPL is Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, supplying Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad. The government kept the gas prices of 1 July 2025 unchanged for 2026-27, so the slabs below are still current.
How a gas bill is worked out
Gas is priced per MMBTU (million British thermal units), not per cubic metre. So the bill takes three steps.
- Convert your gas to MMBTU. MMBTU = (m³ ÷ 28.17385) × GCV ÷ 1,000. One hm3 is 100 m³. GCV is the heat value of the gas, printed on your bill, and it changes a little each month.
- Apply the slab rates. You get the benefit of one previous slab: the gas up to the previous slab's limit is charged at that slab's rate, the rest at your slab's rate.
- Add fixed charge, meter rent and GST. Fixed charge is Rs 600 for protected homes, and Rs 1,500 (up to 1.5 hm3) or Rs 3,000 (above 1.5 hm3) for non-protected. Meter rent is Rs 40. GST is 18%.
Worked example: 1.2 hm3, non-protected, GCV 950
120 m³ ÷ 28.17385 × 950 ÷ 1,000 = 4.046 MMBTU. 1.2 hm3 is in the 1.0 to 1.5 slab (Rs 1,450). The gas up to 1.0 hm3 (3.372 MMBTU) gets the previous slab's Rs 1,250.

GCV 950 is only an example. With GCV 920 the same gas comes to Rs 7,751.16. With GCV 980 it is Rs 8,138.15. Use the figure on your own bill.
Domestic gas rates 2026-27
Rates per MMBTU notified from 1 July 2025 and kept unchanged from 1 July 2026. SNGPL and SSGC charge the same schedule.

Protected means your average use in the winter months of November to February was 0.9 hm3 or less.
The 1.5 hm3 line
For non-protected homes, the fixed charge doubles from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000 once use passes 1.5 hm3. The slab rate also moves from Rs 1,450 to Rs 1,900.
- 1.50 hm3: Rs 9,675.46
- 1.51 hm3: Rs 12,316.83
One extra cubic metre adds about Rs 2,641. In winter, when geysers and heaters run for hours, this is the line to watch.
The government has asked the IMF to approve a single gas rate with targeted subsidy in place of the slabs. As of September 2026 that plan was not in force.

What is 1 unit of sui gas price in Pakistan?
Gas is not sold by the unit. It is priced per MMBTU, from Rs 200 for the lowest protected slab to Rs 4,200 for non-protected use above 4 hm3. At GCV 950, one hm3 is about 3.37 MMBTU.
What is GCV on my gas bill?
GCV is the gross calorific value, the heat in each cubic foot of gas, in BTU. It is printed on the bill and changes slightly each month. A higher GCV means more MMBTU for the same cubic metres, so a higher bill.
Did SNGPL gas prices change in July 2026?
No. OGRA proposed lower prices for 2026-27, but the government decided to keep the prices of 1 July 2025 unchanged. The slabs, fixed charges and meter rent on this page are the ones in force in September 2026.
Who is a protected gas consumer?
A home whose average gas use in November to February was 0.9 hm3 or less. Protected homes pay Rs 200 to Rs 350 per MMBTU and a fixed charge of Rs 600. Everyone else is non-protected.
