Enter the gas used (in hm3) and the GCV from your SSGC bill. A protected home using 0.8 hm3, at an example GCV of 950, pays about Rs 1,750. The same gas on non-protected rates costs about Rs 4,841.
SSGC is Sui Southern Gas Company, supplying Sindh and Balochistan. The domestic prices of 1 July 2025 remain in force for 2026-27.
Worked example: 0.8 hm3, protected, GCV 950
First convert to MMBTU: 80 m³ ÷ 28.17385 × 950 ÷ 1,000 = 2.698 MMBTU.
0.8 hm3 falls in the protected 0.6 to 0.9 slab (Rs 350). SSGC gives the benefit of one previous slab, so the gas up to 0.6 hm3 (2.023 MMBTU) is charged at Rs 300.

On non-protected rates the same 0.8 hm3 would cost Rs 4,841.14, mainly because the rates are Rs 850 and Rs 1,250 and the fixed charge is Rs 1,500.
Who is protected
SSGC treats a home as protected if its average gas use in the peak winter months, November to February, was 0.9 hm3 or less. The status is based on past winters, not on one month.
Protected bills at GCV 950:

GCV and your bill
The GCV (gross calorific value) is printed on your bill in BTU per cubic foot. It changes slightly each month. The calculator uses 950 only as an example. For the closest estimate, type the GCV from your latest bill.
The SSGC conversion is: MMBTU = (m³ ÷ 28.17385) × GCV ÷ 1,000. SSGC also notes that withholding tax can apply. That is not included here. For electricity in Karachi, use the K-Electric bill calculator.

Questions people ask
What is the SSGC per unit gas price?
SSGC prices gas per MMBTU. Protected homes pay Rs 200 to Rs 350 and non-protected homes Rs 500 to Rs 4,200, depending on the slab. These are the prices of 1 July 2025, kept unchanged for 2026-27.
How is the SSGC slab benefit applied?
SSGC gives the benefit of the preceding slab only. The gas up to the previous slab limit is charged at that slab rate, and the rest at the rate for your slab. The calculator applies this rule.
Why is my SSGC bill higher than this estimate?
Your GCV may differ from the example 950, and the bill may carry arrears, late payment surcharge or withholding tax. Also check whether you are billed as protected or non-protected. Use the exact hm3 and GCV from your bill.
Is SSGC cheaper than SNGPL?
No. Both use the same domestic price schedule. The SNGPL gas bill calculator gives the same result for the same hm3 and GCV.
