The pay scale chart 2026 runs from Rs 16,280 (minimum of BPS-1) to Rs 293,350 (maximum of BPS-22). It replaced the 2022 chart on 1 July 2026 under the Finance Division order of 21 July 2026, and the federal, Punjab, Sindh and KP governments have adopted it. Every minimum is about 20.1% higher than in 2022, because the Ad hoc Relief Allowances of 2022 and 2025 were merged into basic pay.

Scales 1 to 16 have 30 stages, 17 to 19 have 20, and 20 to 22 have 14. The number of stages did not change in 2026.
How to read the chart
Each scale has three numbers. The minimum is the starting basic pay for someone appointed in that scale. The increment is added on 1 December each year. The maximum is where normal increments stop.
Your stage is how many increments you have above the minimum. The formula is simple:
Basic pay = minimum + stage x increment
Example: BPS-17 at stage 5 in 2026 is 54,140 + 5 x 4,110 = Rs 74,690. In the 2022 chart the same stage was 45,070 + 5 x 3,420 = Rs 62,170. After the increment on 1 December 2026 the pay becomes Rs 78,800, with 15 increments left to the maximum of Rs 136,340.
If you are already at the maximum, further increments are paid as personal pay at the increment rate of your scale. The 2026 order carried personal pay over stage for stage.
What changed from the 2022 scales
The Finance Division order of 21 July 2026 did three things from 1 July 2026:
- It merged the 15% ARA-2022 and the 10% ARA-2025 into basic pay. That is why each minimum is about 20.1% higher and each increment 20% to 21% higher.
- It moved serving employees point to point: the same stage in the new chart. A BPS-16 employee at stage 6 (Rs 41,630 in 2022) now draws Rs 50,040.
- It added a new Ad hoc Relief Allowance 2026 at 7% of the new basic pay. The lookup shows it for your stage.

Pay scale is only part of your salary
Basic pay is often around two thirds of the gross salary. On top of it come ARA-2026 (7%), house rent allowance, conveyance allowance, medical allowance and, for many federal staff, the Disparity Reduction Allowance. Basic pay also drives your pension: the pension calculator uses your last basic pay, and ARA-2026 does not count for pension.

What is the new pay scale 2026 in Pakistan?
It is the Basic Pay Scales 2026, notified by the Finance Division on 21 July 2026 with effect from 1 July 2026. BPS-1 now starts at Rs 16,280 and BPS-22 at Rs 146,770. It replaced the 2022 scales after the 2022 and 2025 relief allowances were merged into basic pay.
What is the basic pay of BPS-17 in 2026?
The minimum is Rs 54,140, the annual increment Rs 4,110 and the maximum Rs 136,340 after 20 increments. In the 2022 scale the minimum was Rs 45,070. A new BPS-17 officer also gets 7% ARA-2026, which is Rs 3,790 at the minimum.
How do I find my stage?
Take your basic pay, subtract the minimum of your scale and divide by the increment. The answer is your stage. BPS-16 pay of Rs 50,040 is (50,040 minus 33,720) / 2,720 = 6. Choose "I know my basic pay" in the lookup to do this for you.
When is the annual increment given?
On 1 December every year, at the increment rate of your scale. The 2026 increment is the first one at the new rates, for example Rs 2,720 in BPS-16 and Rs 4,110 in BPS-17.
Is there a 2025 pay scale chart?
No new scales were issued in 2025. The 2022 chart stayed in force until 30 June 2026, with a 10% ARA-2025 paid on top. The table above shows the 2022 chart next to the 2026 chart.
