GIKI ranks applicants almost entirely on its admission test. The test (or SAT-II for overseas applicants) carries 85%, and your SSC or O level marks carry 15%, according to Table 3.1 of GIKI's undergraduate admission policy. FSc marks are not part of the formula, though you still need at least 60% in Mathematics, Physics and overall to be eligible.

The test is multiple choice, on Pakistani intermediate Physics and Mathematics. A 1% gain in the test is worth 0.85 merit points. The same 1% gain in SSC is worth 0.15.
Worked example
Student A
Test 65% (for example 130 out of 200) and SSC 1,000 out of 1,100.
- Test: 65 ÷ 100 × 85 = 55.2500
- SSC: 1,000 ÷ 1,100 × 15 = 13.6364
- Merit: 68.8864%
Student B
Test 75% and SSC 900 out of 1,100.
- Test: 75 ÷ 100 × 85 = 63.7500
- SSC: 900 ÷ 1,100 × 15 = 12.2727
- Merit: 76.0227%
Student B had 100 fewer SSC marks but ranks well above A. Ten test percentage points are worth 8.5 merit points, while 100 SSC marks are worth only 1.3636.

With a 200-mark paper, double these figures. GIKI does not publish closing merits in its policy, so compare with the merit list for your year.
Why other calculators differ. Some guides split the 15% into HSSC Part I 10% and SSC 5%, or apply it to FSc. GIKI's own admission policy (Table 3.1) gives the 15% to SSC or O level, and that is what we use. The policy on GIKI's site was uploaded in 2021 and is still the one linked from the undergraduate admissions page; its 2026 schedule was not published when we checked. If GIKI issues a new rule, your result card and merit list take priority. The paper total (often reported as 200) is not stated in the policy, so this calculator lets you enter it.

How is GIKI merit calculated?
GIKI gives 85% to the admission test (or SAT-II) and 15% to SSC or O level. A student with 65% in the test and 1,000 out of 1,100 in SSC gets 55.25 + 13.6364 = 68.8864%. FSc marks decide eligibility, not merit.
Does GIKI count FSc marks in merit?
Not in the formula in GIKI's admission policy. FSc is an eligibility check: at least 60% in Mathematics, Physics and overall. Students still awaiting their result can be enrolled provisionally and must submit it by the deadline.
What test score do I need for GIKI?
It depends on the year's merit list. With SSC 1,000 out of 1,100, you need 67% in the test for a 70% merit and 79% for 80%. Enter your own SSC marks and a target in the calculator.
Can I use SAT instead of the GIKI test?
GIKI's policy accepts SAT-II scores in Mathematics and Physics (Math IIC) for engineering, AI and CS, and describes this route for overseas applicants. The SAT score takes the test's 85% weight. O and A level students need IBCC equivalence.
