PIEAS aggregate = 0.60 × your test percentile + 0.25 × your HSSC Part I percentage + 0.15 × your SSC percentage. The key point: the test part uses your percentile, not your raw score or test percentage.

A percentile of 85 means you did better than 85% of candidates. PIEAS reports it with the test result. Enter it in the first row, out of 100.

Worked example

A student has a test percentile of 85, 88% in HSSC Part I and 90% in SSC.

  1. Test: 0.60 × 85 = 51.0000
  2. HSSC Part I: 0.25 × 88 = 22.0000
  3. SSC: 0.15 × 90 = 13.5000
  4. Aggregate: 86.5000

All three inputs are already out of 100, so no division is needed. If you only have marks for HSSC and SSC, change the "Out of" box to your board total and enter your marks. The calculator converts them to percentages.

Percentile versus percentage

Say the test was hard and you scored 55%. If most candidates scored lower, your percentile might be 80 or more. Entering 55 instead of 80 would cut 15 points from the test part (0.60 × 25) and make your aggregate look far worse than it is.

The reverse also happens on an easy test. A high raw score can sit on a middling percentile. Always use the percentile PIEAS gives you.

PIEAS aggregate questions

How is the PIEAS aggregate calculated?

PIEAS uses 0.60 × test percentile + 0.25 × HSSC Part I percentage + 0.15 × SSC percentage. With a percentile of 85, 88% in Part I and 90% in SSC, the aggregate is 51 + 22 + 13.5 = 86.5. This formula is from the PIEAS admission FAQs.

What is a test percentile in PIEAS?

It shows what share of candidates scored below you. A percentile of 85 means you did better than 85% of test takers. It is not your marks or your percentage. PIEAS uses the percentile so that a hard or easy paper does not unfairly shift everyone's merit.

Does PIEAS use full FSc or Part I?

Part I. The official formula names HSSC Part 1 percentage for the 25% share. Enter your first-year percentage, or your first-year marks with the right total, and the calculator converts it. Using full FSc marks will give a slightly different figure from PIEAS's own.

Why is my PIEAS aggregate lower than I expected?

The most common reason is entering a raw test score or percentage instead of the percentile. The test is 60% of the aggregate, so this mistake has a big effect. Check the percentile on your PIEAS result.
