NED's current GPA criteria come from the semester regulations notified on 13 January 2025. An A needs 85 marks (4.00), an A+ needs 94 (also 4.00), and 50 is the lowest pass (D, 1.00). Enter marks, letters or grade points and the calculator returns your GPA.
NED's plus grades are worth a little more than at many universities: B+ is 3.40, C+ is 2.40 and D+ is 1.40.
How NED grading works
The Semester Regulations for BE, BS and BArch were approved by the Syndicate on 23 December 2024 and notified on 13 January 2025 with immediate effect. The grading table is in section 7.10. It has twelve grades with fixed points, and the regulations do not mention rounding of marks.
Some bands are only 3 marks wide. B- is 67 to 69, C+ is 64 to 66 and C- is 57 to 59. The A band is wide, 85 to 93, and A+ at 94 adds no extra points.
Pass and degree rules
- A course needs 50% to pass.
- The minimum CGPA for a degree is 2.00.

GPA = 36.60 ÷ 13 = 2.82.
To find your CGPA, bring in your record. With 2.60 over 68 earlier credit hours, earlier quality points are 176.80. Add 36.60 to get 213.40, divide by 81, and the new CGPA is 2.63.

What is the NED GPA criteria?
Under the January 2025 regulations, 94 and above is A+ (4.00), 85 to 93 is A (4.00), 80 to 84 is A- (3.70), 75 to 79 is B+ (3.40) and 70 to 74 is B (3.00). It continues down to D at 50 to 53 (1.00). Below 50 is F.
What is the NED CGPA criteria for a degree?
You need a CGPA of at least 2.00 to be awarded a BE, BS or BArch degree. Each course also needs 50% to pass. Use "Add previous semesters" above to check your running CGPA against that line.
Is B+ 3.3 or 3.4 at NED?
B+ is 3.40 at NED under the current regulations. C+ is 2.40 and D+ is 1.40. Many calculators copy the more common 3.33 or 3.30 scale, which gives a slightly lower GPA for NED students.
When did the new NED grading start?
The revised regulations were approved by the Syndicate on 23 December 2024 and notified on 13 January 2025 with immediate effect. If your result is from before then, your department can confirm which table applied.
