COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) grades on the HEC-style table: 85 and above is A (4.00), 80 to 84 is A- (3.66), and so on down to D at 50 to 53. Before any mark is graded, COMSATS rounds it to the nearest whole number, so 70.5 becomes 71 and earns a B instead of a B-.

Note the exact points: A- is 3.66, B- 2.66, C- 1.66 and D+ 1.30. Some calculators use 3.67, 2.67, 1.67 and 1.33 instead, which gives COMSATS students a slightly higher GPA than their transcript.
The rounding rule
COMSATS rounds total marks to the nearest whole number before grading. Anything at .5 or above rounds up. This matters at every grade boundary:

A plain HEC calculator that does not round would put 49.5 at F and 84.6 at A-.

GPA = 40.30 ÷ 15 = 2.69.
Without the rounding rule, the same marks give only 2.33, and the 2 credit hour course would be a fail. Always check that your calculator rounds before grading.
Minimum CGPA at COMSATS
The CUI grading notification does not itself state a minimum CGPA. Under HEC policy, a bachelor's degree needs at least 2.00 and an MS needs at least 2.50. Does COMSATS round marks before grading?
Yes. COMSATS rounds total marks to the nearest whole number before looking up the grade, and .5 or above rounds up. So 70.5 becomes 71, a B at 3.00, while 70.4 stays at 70, a B- at 2.66. This calculator applies the same rounding when you enter marks.
What is the COMSATS GPA criteria for an A grade?
An A needs 85 marks or more after rounding and carries 4.00 grade points. So 84.5 rounds to 85 and earns an A. From 80 to 84 the grade is A- at 3.66. These bands apply to students admitted from Fall 2021 under CUI's grading notification.
Why does my CUI portal GPA differ from other calculators?
Many calculators use 3.67 for A- and 2.67 for B-, or skip the rounding rule. COMSATS uses 3.66 and 2.66 and rounds marks first. If you were admitted before Fall 2021, an older table may apply to you. In that case, enter the grade points from your result card.
How do I calculate my COMSATS CGPA?
Open the previous semesters section, enter your current CGPA and the credit hours it covers, then add this semester's courses. What is the passing mark at COMSATS?
A course is passed at 50 marks, which is a D at 1.00 grade points. Because of rounding, 49.5 also counts as 50. Below that the grade is F with zero points, and the course's credit hours still count against your GPA.
