COMSATS works out merit as 50% NTS NAT, 40% Intermediate and 10% Matric. So 70 in NAT, 900 in Intermediate and 950 in Matric (both out of 1,100) gives an aggregate of 76.3636%.

The rule comes from COMSATS Abbottabad's official FAQ page, and education portals give the same split for other campuses. The page is undated, so check your campus notice for the current session.

The COMSATS formula

Aggregate = (NAT ÷ 100 × 50) + (Intermediate ÷ total × 40) + (Matric ÷ total × 10)

Worked example

NAT 70 out of 100, Intermediate 900 out of 1,100, Matric 950 out of 1,100.

  1. NAT: 70 ÷ 100 × 50 = 35.0000
  2. Intermediate: 900 ÷ 1,100 × 40 = 32.7273
  3. Matric: 950 ÷ 1,100 × 10 = 8.6364
  4. Aggregate: 76.3636%

Each NAT mark is worth 0.5 points. Each Intermediate mark is worth about 0.036 points. Ten more NAT marks add five points, the same as about 137 more Intermediate marks.

If your Intermediate result is not out

The CUI Abbottabad FAQ gives a second rule for candidates who only have SSC: 50% SSC + 50% NTS. Use the general aggregate calculator with two parts at 50% each.

With the example above (NAT 70, Matric 950/1,100), that gives 35 + 43.1818 = 78.1818%. Your merit may be recalculated once Intermediate results arrive.

Confidence. The 50/40/10 rule is from an official COMSATS campus page, but it is undated and we could not load the main CUI admissions site to confirm it for every campus. One education portal claims BBA uses 40/40/20; we could not verify that, so the tool does not use it. Lahore, Islamabad and other campuses may add their own conditions.

How is the COMSATS aggregate calculated?

COMSATS gives 50% weight to NTS NAT, 40% to Intermediate and 10% to Matric. For NAT 70/100, Intermediate 900/1,100 and Matric 950/1,100 the aggregate is 35 + 32.7273 + 8.6364 = 76.3636%. The rule is from the CUI Abbottabad admission FAQs.

Is the COMSATS Lahore formula different?

We have not found a separate formula for Lahore. The official rule we found is on COMSATS Abbottabad's FAQ page, and portals report the same 50/40/10 for other campuses. Check your campus admission notice before relying on the figure.

Which test does COMSATS use?

COMSATS uses the NTS NAT (National Aptitude Test) for undergraduate merit. Enter your NAT score out of 100 in the first row. If your campus accepts another test for your programme, enter that score as a percentage in the same row, since the weight stays 50%.

Can I apply to COMSATS with only Matric marks?

Yes, according to the CUI Abbottabad FAQ. Candidates awaiting Intermediate results are ranked on 50% SSC and 50% NTS. NAT 70 and Matric 950/1,100 gives 35 + 43.1818 = 78.1818% under that rule. Your merit may change once Intermediate results arrive.
