How the AIOU GPA system works
The BS ODL prospectus for Autumn 2025 prints a table with one grade point for each whole mark. The same table appears in the Autumn 2022 BS prospectus. Each mark between 50 and 80 adds about 0.07 points. There are only three passing letters: A (80 and above), B (65 to 79) and C (50 to 64).
Two pass conditions
To pass a course you need 40% in the final exam and 50% overall. A strong assignment score cannot rescue a final exam below 40%.
A misprint in the table
The prospectus prints the grade points for 78 and 79 marks as "88" and "94". Every other row sits between 2.00 and 4.00 and rises in small steps, so these are clearly 3.88 and 3.94. The calculator uses 3.88 and 3.94.

The table shows the first and last point in each band. The calculator uses the exact figure for every mark, for example 72 is 3.47 and 58 is 2.54. Fractions of a mark are dropped.

AIOU percentage grading (older programmes)
Annual and older percentage-based AIOU programmes use a different scheme: A+ 80 and above, A 70 to 79, B 60 to 69, C 50 to 59, D 40 to 49, and fail below 40. Do not mix this with the GPA table above.
