NUML grades on a 4.00 scale. Your semester GPA is each course's grade points multiplied by its credit hours, added up, then divided by the total credit hours. Type the grade points printed on your result card for each course and the calculator does the rest.
NUML's rules give a range of grade points for each grade, not one fixed figure. That is why this page asks for grade points first. If you only know your marks, switch to "Marks (estimate)" and read the note on how that estimate works.
How NUML grading works
NUML uses absolute grading for undergraduate courses under section 3.6 of the Examination Rules 2023 (Revised). A course needs 50% to pass. Anything below 50 is an F with zero points.
The unusual part is the grade point column. An A (80 to 89.99) and an A+ (90 and above) both give 4.00. Every band below that is 5 marks wide and carries a range of half a point, for example B+ is 75 to 79.99 and carries 3.50 to 3.99. The rules do not say which mark inside the band gets which point.
Two more rules worth knowing
- You must get at least 25% of the marks in the end-term exam. Good sessional marks alone will not carry you.
- You need a CGPA of at least 2.00 to be awarded the degree.

Worked example: one semester at NUML
Say your result card shows these five courses. Multiply grade points by credit hours to get quality points.

GPA = 44.00 ÷ 14 = 3.14.
Now add your history. If your CGPA was 2.95 over 50 credit hours, your earlier quality points are 2.95 × 50 = 147.50. Add 44.00 and divide by 64 credit hours. Your new CGPA is 2.99.
What the marks estimate does
If you pick "Marks (estimate)", the calculator places your mark on a straight line inside its band. A 77 in the B+ band (75 to 79.99, points 3.50 to 3.99) comes out at 3.70. A 72 in the B band gives 3.20, and a 61 in the C band gives 2.10.
This is a reasonable guess, not NUML's rule. Each band is 5 marks and half a point wide, so 0.1 point per mark fits the numbers, but the rules never say so. Treat any marks-based GPA as a forecast and check it against your result card.

What is the NUML GPA criteria for passing?
You need 50% in a course to pass it at NUML. You also need at least 25% of the marks in the end-term exam. Below 50% the course is graded F and carries zero grade points, which pulls your GPA down until you clear it.
Why does NUML give a range like 3.50 to 3.99 for B+?
That is how the Examination Rules 2023 (Revised) print it. Each grade from B+ down to D carries a range of half a grade point. The rules do not set a mark for each point, so the exact figure comes from your department. Use the grade points on your result card for an exact GPA.
How do I calculate my NUML CGPA?
Multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours and add them across every semester. Divide that total by all the credit hours you have taken. With this calculator, open "Add previous semesters", enter your current CGPA and credit hours so far, then add this semester's courses.
What CGPA do I need to get a NUML degree?

Can I convert my NUML CGPA to percentage?
