NUML ranks BS applicants on four parts: Matric 5%, HSSC 10%, the NUML entrance test 75% and the interview 10%. So Matric 900, HSSC 850 (both out of 1,100), 70 in the test and 7 out of 10 in the interview gives an aggregate of 71.3182%.

NUML merit formula for BS programmes

The same section gives BS bridging programmes (entry after a two-year BA or BSc) a different split: Matric 4%, HSSC 4%, BA or BSc 7%, test 75% and interview 10%. MS and MPhil use previous degrees 15%, test 75% and interview 10%.

Matric 900 out of 1,100, HSSC 850 out of 1,100, entrance test 70 out of 100, interview 7 out of 10.
- Matric: 900 ÷ 1,100 × 5 = 4.0909
- HSSC: 850 ÷ 1,100 × 10 = 7.7273
- Test: 70 ÷ 100 × 75 = 52.5000
- Interview: 7 ÷ 10 × 10 = 7.0000
- Aggregate: 71.3182%
Board marks carry only 15% between them. The difference between 800 and 1,000 in HSSC is worth about 1.8 aggregate points, while ten test marks are worth 7.5.

The student with the lowest board marks leads by a clear margin because of an 85 in the entrance test. At NUML, test preparation matters far more than a few extra board marks.

Interview and documents. Interviews are held by each department on its own schedule, and the interview marks carry 10% of the merit. For Fall 2026, NUML required BS and BBA applicants to bring IBCC-verified QR documents to the interview. Check the merit list of your department for the final figure.

How is the NUML merit calculated for BS?
NUML takes 5% of your Matric percentage, 10% of your HSSC percentage, 75% of your entrance test percentage and 10% of your interview marks. Matric 900, HSSC 850, test 70 and interview 7/10 give 4.0909 + 7.7273 + 52.5 + 7 = 71.3182%.
What is the weightage of the NUML entry test?
75% of the aggregate for BS programmes, the same share as for MS and MPhil. Each test mark out of 100 adds 0.75 to your merit, so the test is the main thing to prepare for.
Does NUML take interviews for BS admission?
Yes. The admission policy gives the interview 10% of the merit, and departments hold interviews on their own schedule. Enter an estimate before your interview and your actual marks afterwards.
What is the NUML merit formula for BS bridging programmes?
For entry after a two-year BA or BSc: Matric 4%, HSSC 4%, BA or BSc 7%, test 75% and interview 10%. Work out each part as a percentage, multiply by its weight and add them up. The test and interview still make up 85% of the merit.
