ECAT is marked out of 400, and at UET Lahore it carries 33% of your aggregate. Divide your ECAT marks by 400 and multiply by 33, then add 50% of your FSc Part I percentage and 17% of your Matric percentage. Each ECAT mark is worth 0.0825 aggregate points.

ECAT 2026 at a glance
UET Lahore runs ECAT as a common entrance test for BSc Engineering in Punjab. Its official ECAT page sets out the pattern:

You choose a subject group: Maths, Physics and Chemistry; Maths, Physics and Computer Science; Maths, Statistics and Computer Science; Maths, Statistics and Physics; or Biology, Physics and Chemistry for pre-medical students. There is no pass mark for ECAT itself. UET Lahore does require a minimum aggregate of 50%.

Who uses the UET Lahore formula
The UET Lahore Fall 2026 prospectus covers the Main Campus, Kala Shah Kaku (KSK), Faisalabad, Rachna College (RCET) Gujranwala and Narowal. It also lists seven affiliated institutions: NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research Faisalabad, Government College of Technology Railway Road Lahore, Government College of Technology Faisalabad, Sharif College of Engineering and Technology Lahore, Quaid-e-Azam College of Engineering and Technology Sahiwal, Swedish College of Engineering and Technology Rahim Yar Khan, and Government Swedish Pakistani College of Technology Gujrat.
Other universities that accept ECAT
UET Taxila uses the same 33/50/17 split and also accepts its own TCAT. GCU Lahore accepts ECAT for Electrical Engineering and Information Security at 30%. ITU accepts ECAT for its engineering degrees with a 50% test weight; see the ITU merit calculator for what ITU publishes.
Worked example: one student, three formulas
A student has 280 out of 400 in ECAT, 460 out of 550 in FSc Part I and 980 out of 1,100 in Matric.
UET Lahore (and its campuses)
- ECAT: 280 ÷ 400 × 33 = 23.1000
- FSc Part I: 460 ÷ 550 × 50 = 41.8182
- Matric: 980 ÷ 1,100 × 17 = 15.1455
- Aggregate: 80.0636%
UET Taxila
The weights are the same, so the same marks give 80.0636%. The difference is which test you may use: ECAT or TCAT.
GCU Lahore (Electrical Engineering)
- Test: 280 ÷ 400 × 30 = 21.0000
- Part I: 460 ÷ 550 × 56 = 46.8364
- Matric: 980 ÷ 1,100 × 14 = 12.4727
- Aggregate: 80.3091%
GCU gives the test less weight and Part I more. A student with strong first-year marks and an average ECAT does slightly better under GCU's split.
ECAT marks needed for a target aggregate
Same student, UET Lahore formula: FSc Part I 460 out of 550 and Matric 980 out of 1,100 give 56.9636 points before ECAT.

Every 10 ECAT marks add 0.825 to the aggregate. Going from 219 to 280 moves this student from 75% to 80%. Use the target box in the calculator with your own board marks.
How to calculate your ECAT aggregate by hand
- ECAT part: your ECAT marks ÷ 400 × 33.
- FSc part: your first-year (Part I) marks ÷ Part I total × 50. Use Part I only, because UET makes its merit list before the Part II result.
- Matric part: your Matric marks ÷ Matric total × 17.
- Add the three. Keep four decimal places, because merit lists are close.
O level, A level and DAE students
UET Lahore gives 33% to ECAT and 67% to one academic figure. For O and A level it is your 11th class IBCC equivalence. For DAE it is your first and second year marks together. Matric is not counted separately on these routes. Pick the matching route in the calculator.
What this page does not add. UET awards Hafiz-e-Quran candidates 0 to 20 marks after an oral test by a verification committee. The prospectus does not say which part they are added to, so the UET routes leave them out. Not covered: UET Peshawar and other Khyber Pakhtunkhwa engineering universities use ETEA, not ECAT, and we could not confirm their 2026-27 formula from an official document. ECAT aggregate questions
How is the ECAT aggregate calculated?
At UET Lahore it is ECAT ÷ 400 × 33, plus FSc Part I ÷ 550 × 50, plus Matric ÷ 1,100 × 17. For 280 in ECAT, 460 in Part I and 980 in Matric that is 23.1 + 41.8182 + 15.1455 = 80.0636%. UET Taxila uses the same weights. GCU uses 30/56/14.
What are the total marks of ECAT 2026?
- ECAT has 100 MCQs and each correct answer earns 4 marks. UET's ECAT page confirms there is no negative marking, so an unanswered question and a wrong answer both score zero. The test lasts 100 minutes.
How many marks are needed in ECAT to get admission in UET?
There is no ECAT pass mark. UET needs a minimum aggregate of 50%, and your seat depends on where your aggregate ranks that year. With 460/550 in Part I and 980/1,100 in Matric, 219 in ECAT gives 75% and 280 gives 80%. Enter a target above to see your own figure.
If I take ECAT twice, which score counts?
The better one. UET's ECAT page says applicants may take more than one attempt under PEC instructions and the best score is used for merit. The score is valid for Fall 2026 admission only.
Can pre-medical students use ECAT?
ECAT offers a Biology, Physics and Chemistry group. UET Taxila's admission FAQ says pre-medical students must pass the test with Mathematics as an additional subject to join engineering. Check the eligibility list of your programme before applying.
