NTU Faisalabad does not use one formula. Engineering takes 15% Matric, 50% Intermediate Part I and 35% entry test, while computing takes 10%, 60% and 30%. Engineering Technology leaves Matric out, and Technical Textiles and Design have no test weight at all.
Pick your programme, enter your marks and add a target to see the test score you need. NTU takes applications on Intermediate Part I marks and finalises merit on that basis, so enter your first year result out of 550.
NTU merit formulas by programme
Weights from NTU's Admission Guidebook 2026-2027 (Tables 3.1 to 3.7).
| Programme or route | Formula | Usual totals |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering (Textile, Polymer) | Matric / SSC 15% + Intermediate Part I 50% + Entry test 35% | 1,100 / 550 / 100 |
| Computing and BS Data Analytics | Matric / SSC 10% + Intermediate Part I 60% + Entry test 30% | 1,100 / 550 / 100 |
| Engineering Technology (BSTET, BSGET, BSIET) | Intermediate Part I 70% + Entry test 30% | 550 / 100 |
| BS Technical Textiles | Matric / SSC 20% + Intermediate Part I 80% | 1,100 / 550 |
| Design programmes | Matric / SSC 35% + Intermediate Part I 65% | 1,100 / 550 |
BS Chemistry and all Faisalabad Business School programmes rank on Intermediate Part I marks alone (100% weight), so merit there is your Part I percentage. The marks percentage calculator gives it in one step.
Worked example: one student, five formulas
Matric 950 out of 1,100, Intermediate Part I 470 out of 550 and 60 out of 100 in the NTU entry test.
Engineering (Textile or Polymer)
- Matric: 950 ÷ 1,100 × 15 = 12.9545
- Part I: 470 ÷ 550 × 50 = 42.7273
- Test: 60 ÷ 100 × 35 = 21.0000
- Aggregate: 76.6818%
Computing (BSCS, BSSE, BSAI, BSCET) or BS Data Analytics
8.6364 + 51.2727 + 18.0000 = 77.9091%
Engineering Technology (BSTET, BSGET, BSIET)
Part I 470 ÷ 550 × 70 = 59.8182, plus test 18.0000 = 77.8182%
Technical Textiles and Design
Technical Textiles: 17.2727 + 68.3636 = 85.6364%. Design: 30.2273 + 55.5455 = 85.7727%.
The no-test formulas give the same student about 9 points more. That does not make those seats easier: each programme has its own merit list, so compare your figure only with that list.
Entry test score needed: engineering
Matric 950 and Part I 470 give 55.6818 points before the test, which is out of 100.
| Target aggregate | Entry test marks needed |
|---|---|
| 65% | 27 / 100 |
| 70% | 41 / 100 |
| 75% | 56 / 100 |
| 80% | 70 / 100 |
Under the computing formula the same student needs 34 for 70% and 51 for 75%, because the test carries 30% instead of 35%.
Which test counts
For engineering, NTU accepts its own entry test or a score from NTS (NAT and others), HEC-ETC, ECAT, the NUST entry test or SAT-II. The NTU test has 100 MCQs, one mark each, with no negative marking. If you use another test, enter your score and that test's total, for example 260 out of 400 for ECAT. The calculator turns it into a percentage before applying the weight.
Design applicants must also pass a drawing test. It is pass or fail and adds nothing to merit. O and A level students need IBCC equivalence before NTU works out merit; get an estimate with the IBCC equivalence calculator.
NTU merit questions
How is NTU merit calculated?
NTU applies the weights in its Admission Guidebook 2026-2027 for each programme group. For BS Textile Engineering and BS Polymer Engineering it is 15% Matric, 50% Intermediate Part I and 35% entry test. Matric 950/1,100, Part I 470/550 and test 60/100 give 12.9545 + 42.7273 + 21.0000 = 76.6818%.
Does NTU count FSc Part II marks?
The guidebook says undergraduate applications are taken on Intermediate Part I basis and merit is finalised accordingly. Enter your first year marks out of 550 in the Part I row. O and A level results are converted through IBCC equivalence first.
Is there an entry test for BS Computer Science at NTU?
Yes. BSCS, BSSE, BSAI, BSCET and BS Data Analytics give the entry test 30% weight, with 60% on Intermediate Part I and 10% on Matric. Technical Textiles, Design, BS Chemistry and the business school programmes have no test weight. Design applicants still sit a drawing test, which is pass or fail.
What entry test score do I need for NTU engineering?
It depends on your board marks and the closing merit of your programme that year. With Matric 950 and Part I 470, you need 41 out of 100 for a 70% aggregate and 56 for 75%. Put your own marks and a target in the calculator to get your figure.
Is the NTU entry test negative marked?
No. The NTU entry test has 100 multiple choice questions, each worth one mark, and wrong answers cost nothing. So attempt every question. Your score out of 100 is then multiplied by 35% for engineering, 30% for computing and technology programmes.
