PUCIT, now the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FCIT) at Punjab University, ranks BS applicants on 75% academics and 25% PU admission test. The academic part adds a quarter of your Matric marks to your Inter Part I marks, plus 20 marks if you are Hafiz-e-Quran, and divides by the matching totals.

The FCIT formula
FCIT publishes it like this:
Merit = ((¼ of Matric marks + Inter Part I marks + 20 if Hafiz) ÷ (¼ of Matric total + Inter Part I total)) × 75 + PU test marks × 0.25
With Matric out of 1,100 and Part I out of 550, the academic total is 275 + 550 = 825. So:

The first applicant has the best Matric and Part I but the weakest test, and still comes top. The third applicant's 60 fewer Part I marks cost 5.4545 points, which 12 test marks (3 points) do not make up.
Worked example, step by step
Matric 1,050 out of 1,100, Inter Part I 500 out of 550, PU test 58.
- Quarter of Matric: 1,050 ÷ 4 = 262.5 (total 275)
- Academic part: (262.5 + 500) ÷ 825 × 75 = 69.3182
- Test part: 58 × 0.25 = 14.5000
- Merit: 83.8182%
If this student is a verified Hafiz-e-Quran: (262.5 + 500 + 20) ÷ 825 × 75 = 71.1364, and the merit becomes 85.6364%.
Who can apply to FCIT
For BS Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology and Data Science, FCIT asks for Intermediate with at least 50% marks: ICS, FSc Pre-Engineering or another mathematics-based Intermediate. DAE holders need at least 60% in a relevant discipline. Hafiz-e-Quran applicants must show their certificate and pass a test by an FCIT committee before the 20 marks are added.
FCIT's criteria page does not mention deductions for gap years or improved marks, so this calculator applies none. The formula is the same one PU publishes for its other BS programmes; see the Punjab University merit calculator for the PU test and other departments.

How is PUCIT merit calculated?
Add a quarter of your Matric marks to your Inter Part I marks (plus 20 if Hafiz), divide by a quarter of the Matric total plus the Part I total, and multiply by 75. Add PU test marks × 0.25. Matric 1,050, Part I 500 and test 58 give 83.8182%.
Is the PU admission test compulsory for PUCIT?
Yes. FCIT's admission criteria say the PU admission test is mandatory for any FCIT programme, with a 25% weight. The test is out of 100.
Do Hafiz-e-Quran students get extra marks at PUCIT?
Yes, 20 marks added to the academic marks, after a test by an FCIT committee. With Matric 1,050 and Part I 500 the bonus lifts the merit by 1.8182 points.
Why is Matric divided by four?
It keeps Matric from outweighing Inter Part I. With Matric at a quarter, 1,100 Matric marks count as 275, against 550 for Part I. One Part I mark is worth four Matric marks in the academic part.
