Single or multiple journey

A single journey visa covers one trip to Ireland for a stay of up to 90 days. A multiple journey visa lets you travel to Ireland more than once while it is valid, which suits someone visiting family several times or travelling for business. It costs €100, which is €100 against €60 for one journey.

Ireland is not part of the Schengen area. A Schengen visa does not let you enter Ireland, and for Pakistani passport holders neither does a UK visa, so a trip that takes in London and Dublin needs both visas. See the UK visa fee calculator for the British side of the cost.

Worked examples

A couple visiting relatives in Dublin

Two single journey visas: 2 x €60 = €120, about Rs 37,184 before the visa centre charge.

A family of four with a centre charge

Two parents and two children, multiple journey visas: 4 x €100 = €400. If the centre charges Rs 5,000 per person (an example figure; use the one on your booking), the family pays Rs 143,948 in all.

The wife of an EU citizen

The spouse of an EU citizen who is travelling with or joining that citizen pays no visa fee. With the same example centre charge she pays only Rs 5,000.

Who pays no Irish visa fee

The Irish Immigration Service waives the fee for:

  • the spouse, widow or widower, or child under 18 of an Irish citizen
  • qualifying family members of an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, such as a spouse, a child under 21 or a dependent parent, with proof that they are travelling with or joining that citizen
  • holders of diplomatic, service or official passports travelling officially

Citizens of 16 countries, such as Indonesia, Morocco and Sri Lanka, also pay no fee. Pakistan is not on that list, so a Pakistani applicant outside the family categories pays the full fee. Tick the exemption box above to see what an exempt applicant still pays.

Paying the fee and the centre charge

You fill in the application online, print and sign the summary form, and submit it with your passport and documents where the form tells you. The Department of Foreign Affairs says payment methods and currency can differ between embassies and centres, and that local administrative or delivery charges may be added. The euro fee is turned into rupees by whoever collects it, so your receipt can differ slightly from the figure here.

Keep both parts in mind when you budget: the visa fee goes to the Irish Immigration Service and the centre's charge pays for its service. Neither is refunded if the visa is refused. Your passport needs to be valid; check the passport fee calculator if it is close to expiry.

Ireland visa fee questions

What is the Ireland visa fee for Pakistani citizens?

€60 for a single journey visit visa and €100 for multiple journeys, for each applicant. At the euro rate of 8 October 2026 the single journey fee is about Rs 18,592. The visa centre adds its own charge on top.

Do children pay the Irish visa fee?

Yes. Each traveller needs a separate application, even a child listed in a parent's passport, and each application carries the fee. A child under 18 of an Irish citizen is the exception and pays nothing. Two parents and two children on single journey visas pay €240.

Is the Ireland visa fee refunded if the visa is refused?

No. The Irish Immigration Service says the fee cannot be refunded if your application is refused or withdrawn. The visa centre's service charge is not refunded either, so check your documents before you submit.

Can I visit Ireland on a UK or Schengen visa?

Not on a Pakistani passport. Ireland is outside the Schengen area, and the schemes that let some UK visa holders enter Ireland do not cover Pakistani nationals. You need an Irish visa, at €60 for one journey.

How much does an Irish visa cost for a family in rupees?

Multiply the fee by the number of travellers and add the centre charge for each. Four single journey visas are €240, about Rs 74,369 at the rate of 8 October 2026, before the centre charge. Enter your family above for the exact figure.

Is a multiple journey visa worth it?

If you expect to return within the visa's validity, yes: €100 once is cheaper than two single journey visas at €120. The visa officer decides which visa to issue, so apply for multiple journeys only if your plans support it.
