Schengen Visa Fee from Pakistan: Calculator

The Schengen visa fee is €90 for anyone aged 12 or over, €45 for children aged 6 to 11, and free for children under 6. This is the same for every Schengen country, set by the EU Visa Code since 11 June 2024. On top of it, the visa application centre in Pakistan charges its own service fee, which differs by country: €38 at the German and Portuguese centres, €15 at Norway's and Rs 7,718 at the Dutch centre, for example.

What the Visa Code says about the fee

Article 16 of the EU Visa Code fixes the short-stay (type C) visa fee:

The fee is also waived for school pupils, university students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers travelling for study or educational training, for researchers travelling for scientific research, and for delegates of non-profit organisations aged 25 or under attending seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events. Each needs proof, such as an admission letter or an invitation from the organiser.

The fee can be charged in euros or in rupees, and it is not refunded if the visa is refused. It is returned only if the application is found inadmissible or was lodged with the wrong country. Article 17 caps the centre's service fee at half the visa fee, so no centre can charge more than €45 for a standard application.

Where no rupee price is set, the embassy converts €90 at its own rate on the day. The centre's service fee is charged per applicant, including children under 6. Denmark adds a €2 (Rs 641) courier charge for applications made outside Islamabad.

Worked examples

A family visiting Germany

Two parents, a daughter of 9 and a son of 4 apply at the German centre.

At Rs 314.17 per euro, the rate of 30 September 2026, that is about Rs 118,442. The embassy's own rupee rate will make the counter figure differ a little.

A student going to Portugal for a summer course

A university student with an admission letter pays no visa fee, but still pays the centre's €38 (Rs 12,493). A friend travelling with her as a tourist pays the full €90, which the Portuguese embassy sets at Rs 29,590.

Which country to apply to

You apply to the country that is the main destination of the trip, meaning the one where you spend the most nights. If the nights are equal, you apply to the country you enter first. The fee is the same whichever country you choose, so pick by the itinerary, not by price. Only the centre's service fee and how the embassy converts euros to rupees change the total.

Most Schengen countries in Pakistan use VFS Global, with centres in Islamabad and, for some countries, Lahore and Karachi. France uses AEG and Spain uses BLS International, and their service fees are shown on their booking pages. Belgium takes its service fee online when you book the appointment, while Denmark and Norway take the visa fee online and the service fee at the centre.

Apply no earlier than 6 months and ideally at least 15 days before travel. The consulate normally decides within 15 calendar days, and can take up to 45 days if it needs more documents.
