Why a family pays more for a visitor visa
For the Visitor visa, Home Affairs does not allow additional applicants. Each person, including a child listed on a parent's passport, lodges a separate application and pays the full AUD 250. A family of four therefore pays AUD 1,000, about Rs 192,340.
The Student visa works differently. The student pays the base charge and the partner and children can be included in the same application at the lower additional applicant charges shown above. Home Affairs charges less for English language (ELICOS) and non-award courses: AUD 2,050 for the student, AUD 1,255 for an adult family member and AUD 410 for a child. A postgraduate research student pays AUD 2,500 and family members cannot be added to that application.
