Over the US$700 line from 128GB
The smallest 16 Plus is US$64 over the line where the levy doubles. Here it is next to a phone valued at exactly US$700:
| Passport | US$700 | 16 Plus 128GB, US$764 |
|---|---|---|
| Regulatory duty | Rs 17,600 | Rs 17,600 |
| Sales tax 25% | Rs 52,844 | Rs 57,273 |
| Mobile levy | Rs 8,000 | Rs 16,000 |
| Total | Rs 78,444 | Rs 90,873 |
The levy step alone is Rs 8,000 of the gap of about Rs 12,400. The regulatory duty is the same on both sides of the line, and the rest is sales tax on the extra US$64.
Between the iPhone 16 and the 16 Pro
The ruling puts each Plus size close to the next phone up. The 128GB Plus has the value of a 256GB iPhone 16. The 256GB Plus, at US$868, is US$10 under a 128GB 16 Pro at US$878, so their passport bills are Rs 98,070 and Rs 98,762. The 512GB Plus, at US$1,050, is US$20 under a 256GB 16 Pro Max.
The gap to the base model is wider. A 128GB iPhone 16 stays under US$700, and the iPhone 16 PTA tax on it is Rs 76,091 on passport, about Rs 14,800 less than a 128GB Plus. For the Pro figures by size, see the iPhone 16 Pro PTA tax.
Passport, CNIC and filer status
On CNIC three things are added for a 128GB Plus: Rs 8,460 additional customs duty, the extra sales tax on that duty, and Rs 11,500 withholding tax for a filer. That brings the bill to Rs 112,948, about Rs 22,000 more than passport. A non-filer pays Rs 23,000 withholding tax, for Rs 124,448.
Passport registration is only open for 60 days after you arrive, so apply in DIRBS before that window closes.
No used value, and eSIM on US sets
FBR's used-phone ruling 2070/2026 lists iPhones only up to the 15 series, so a used 16 Plus has no ruling value of its own. Customs fixes the value when DIRBS makes the PSID; if yours differs, choose "Enter value in US$" above and type it in.
A 16 Plus sold in the US has no SIM tray and works on eSIM only. Sets from most other countries take a nano-SIM and an eSIM. Dial *#06# to see both IMEIs before you apply.
