Jazz issues its tax certificate in the SIMOSA app. Open the SIMOSA app, tap Tax Certificate on the main menu, choose the year, tap download and enter the 4-digit PIN sent to your number. The certificate lists the advance income tax of 15% that Jazz collected on your number in the tax year. If you load Rs 1,000 a month, it should show about Rs 1,565.22 for a full year of July to June.
Telenor, Ufone and Zong issue theirs through their own apps, listed below. Enter what you load or pay each month and the calculator shows the advance tax the certificate should carry, which you can set against your income tax, and the sales tax, which you cannot.
How to get the tax certificate from each network
As each network listed it on 2 November 2026.
| Network | Where | How |
|---|---|---|
| Jazz | SIMOSA app | Open the SIMOSA app, tap Tax Certificate on the main menu, choose the year, tap download and enter the 4-digit PIN sent to your number. |
| Telenor | My Telenor app or SMS to 2009 | Download it in the My Telenor app, or send an SMS to 2009 with the word TAX, a space and your email address. The SMS costs Rs 2 plus tax. |
| Ufone | Uptcl app | Sign in to the Uptcl app with your Ufone number and the one-time PIN, then open Tax Certificate. |
| Zong | My Zong app | Sign in to the My Zong app and download the tax certificate of your registered number. |
- One certificate per number. Jazz sends the PIN to the number itself and Zong issues the certificate of your registered number, so each SIM has its own certificate. If several SIMs are registered on your CNIC, get one for each and add them up.
- Pick the right year. The certificate for tax year 2026 covers July 2025 to June 2026. Download it once June is over, so all twelve months are on it.
- Telenor customers. Telenor Pakistan became part of Pak Telecom Mobile, the company that runs Ufone, in July 2026. If the Telenor app or SMS route no longer gives a certificate for your number, ask customer care which route now applies.
- Not on the app? Every network can also issue the certificate through its customer care. Ufone's helpline from a Ufone number is 333.
How the amount on the certificate is worked out
Section 236 of the Income Tax Ordinance makes every network collect 15% advance income tax. How it is taken depends on the connection.
Prepaid: taken out of each recharge
The tax comes out of the load. The network credits a balance, and the tax is 15% of that balance, so the two add up to the recharge. On Rs 1,000:
- Balance credited: Rs 869.57
- Advance tax, 15% of that balance: Rs 130.43
- Over 12 months: Rs 130.43 × 12 = Rs 1,565.22 on the certificate
Postpaid: added to the bill
Sales tax of 19.5% goes on the charges first, then 15% advance tax on the charges plus sales tax. A Rs 2,000 monthly bill splits like this:
| Part of the bill | Each month | Over 12 months |
|---|---|---|
| Calls, SMS and data | Rs 1,455.34 | Rs 17,464.07 |
| Sales tax or FED (not claimable) | Rs 283.79 | Rs 3,405.49 |
| Advance income tax (on the certificate) | Rs 260.87 | Rs 3,130.43 |
| Bill | Rs 2,000.00 | Rs 24,000.00 |
The sales tax is a tax on the service. It never appears on the tax certificate and an individual cannot claim it back. To see how a single recharge splits, use the mobile load tax calculator.

Using the certificate in your income tax return
The advance tax on your mobile is adjustable. It counts as income tax already paid for the year.
- Download the certificate for the tax year you are filing.
- In your return on FBR's IRIS portal, enter the amount in the adjustable tax part, against tax collected on mobile phones and prepaid cards under section 236.
- It is set off against the tax on your income. If your income is below the taxable limit, or the tax already collected is more than your tax, claim the difference as a refund under section 170 after filing.
Filers and non-filers pay the same 15%, because rule 10 of the Tenth Schedule keeps section 236 out of the higher non-ATL rates. Only a person named by FBR in an order under section 114B pays 75% until they file. Someone exempt under section 236(4) can give the Commissioner's exemption certificate to the network so that no advance tax is taken.
Broadband and electricity bills carry their own certificates: see the PTCL tax certificate and electricity bill tax certificate pages.
Mobile tax certificate questions
How can I get my Jazz tax certificate?
Through the SIMOSA app. Open the SIMOSA app, tap Tax Certificate on the main menu, choose the year, tap download and enter the 4-digit PIN sent to your number. The certificate covers one number and one tax year. If you load Rs 1,000 a month, expect about Rs 1,565.22 for a full year.
How do I get a Telenor tax certificate?
Telenor's own route: Download it in the My Telenor app, or send an SMS to 2009 with the word TAX, a space and your email address. The SMS costs Rs 2 plus tax. Telenor Pakistan merged into Pak Telecom Mobile, Ufone's company, in July 2026, so if that route stops working for your number, ask customer care for the certificate.
How do I download a Ufone tax certificate?
Sign in to the Uptcl app with your Ufone number and the one-time PIN, then open Tax Certificate. Ufone lists the tax certificate among the features of its Uptcl app, which also handles PTCL accounts. From a Ufone number the helpline is 333.
Can I get a Zong tax certificate online?
Yes. Sign in to the My Zong app and download the tax certificate of your registered number. Ask for the year you are filing. The tax certificate for tax year 2026 covers July 2025 to June 2026.
How much tax should my mobile tax certificate show?
For prepaid, the tax is 15% of the balance credited, taken out of each recharge. Rs 1,000 a month gives Rs 130.43 a month and Rs 1,565.22 a year. For postpaid, the advance tax is 15% of the bill before that tax, so a Rs 2,000 bill carries Rs 260.87.
Why does my certificate show less than the calculator?
Check the months and the number. A certificate covers one SIM for July to June only, so a number you started using mid-year has fewer months. Recharges on a SIM used in Gilgit-Baltistan carry no advance tax. Balance shared to you from another number was taxed when the sender loaded it, so it is on the sender's certificate.
Is the mobile tax certificate useful if I do not file a return?
No. The advance tax only reduces your income tax, or comes back as a refund, through a return on IRIS. Without a return the tax stays with FBR. Filing also matters for the Active Taxpayers List, which lowers many other withholding taxes.
qaaf is not linked to Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, Zong or FBR. The certificate your network issues is the final record. Rates are for 2026-27, in force from 1 July 2026.
