PTA tax on the iPhone 17 Pro is about Rs 114,012 on passport and Rs 140,715 on CNIC for a filer, taking Apple's US launch price of US$1,099 for the 256GB model. A non-filer registering on CNIC pays about Rs 152,215.
Apple announced the iPhone 17 Pro on 9 September 2025. FBR's last ruling for new iPhones, 1999/2025, stops at the iPhone 16 range, so there is no official value for this phone yet and customs assess the value printed on your PSID. iPhone 17 Pro, US launch price, 256GB (Apple, 9 September 2025) at US$1,099 × Rs 276.66.
The 17 Pro is far above US$700, so it pays the top slab's fixed items: Rs 17,600 regulatory duty and a Rs 16,000 levy. Sales tax at 25% is Rs 80,412 on passport, about seven tenths of the whole bill.
Worked example: 256GB on passport
- Value: 1,099 × Rs 276.66 = Rs 304,049
- Regulatory duty: Rs 17,600
- Sales tax: 25% of Rs 321,649 (value plus duty) = Rs 80,412
- Mobile levy: Rs 16,000
- Total on passport: Rs 114,012
On CNIC two items are added. Additional customs duty of 4% on the value comes to Rs 12,162, and it is taxed as well, so the sales tax rises to Rs 83,453. A filer then pays Rs 11,500 withholding tax and a non-filer Rs 23,000.
512GB and 1TB sets
The calculator opens on the 256GB price because that is the figure held for the 17 Pro. A larger set is likely to be valued higher, and above US$700 only the sales tax (and, on CNIC, the additional duty) grows with the value. Each extra US$100 adds about a quarter of its rupee value on passport.
| Value on the PSID | Passport | CNIC, filer |
|---|---|---|
| US$1,099 (256GB launch price) | Rs 114,012 | Rs 140,715 |
| US$1,299 | Rs 127,845 | Rs 157,314 |
| US$1,499 | Rs 141,678 | Rs 173,915 |
If your PSID shows a different value, choose "Enter value in US$" in the calculator and type it.
iPhone 17 Pro PTA tax at different dollar rates
FBR converts the dollar value at the exchange rate of the day the PSID is made, so the rupee bill moves with it.
| Rupees per US$ | Passport | CNIC, filer |
|---|---|---|
| Rs 270 | Rs 112,183 | Rs 138,519 |
| Rs 280 | Rs 114,930 | Rs 141,816 |
| Rs 290 | Rs 117,678 | Rs 145,113 |
| Rs 300 | Rs 120,425 | Rs 148,410 |
Before you register a 17 Pro
- Passport window. The passport route is open for 60 days from your arrival in Pakistan. After that the phone can only be registered on CNIC.
- eSIM on US sets. iPhone 17 Pro sets sold in the US have no SIM tray. Registration works on the IMEI (dial *#06#), but ask your network whether it can issue an eSIM before you pay.
- Instalments. Finance Act 2026 allows the sales tax to be paid in instalments within the financial year, and FBR issued Circular 1 of 2026 on 11 September 2026. Check in DIRBS whether the option is offered when you generate your PSID.
- Cheaper models. The iPhone 17 PTA tax page covers the base model, and the iPhone 17 Air PTA tax page the thinner Air.
iPhone 17 Pro PTA tax questions
How much is iPhone 17 Pro PTA tax on passport?
About Rs 114,012 at a US$1,099 value and Rs 276.66 to the dollar. That is Rs 17,600 regulatory duty, Rs 80,412 sales tax at 25% and a Rs 16,000 mobile levy. The passport route has no withholding tax and no additional customs duty.
What is the iPhone 17 Pro PTA tax on CNIC?
About Rs 140,715 for a filer. CNIC adds Rs 12,162 additional customs duty at 4% and Rs 11,500 withholding tax, and the sales tax rises to Rs 83,453 because the extra duty is taxed too.
How much PTA tax does a non-filer pay on an iPhone 17 Pro?
About Rs 152,215 on CNIC. A non-filer pays double the withholding tax, Rs 23,000 instead of Rs 11,500; every other line is the same as for a filer. On passport there is no withholding tax, so filer status makes no difference there.
Why is there no FBR value for the iPhone 17 Pro?
FBR's latest ruling for new iPhones, 1999/2025 of 23 April 2025, was issued months before the iPhone 17 range was announced, and its used-phone ruling 2070/2026 lists iPhones only up to the 15 series. For a model that is not listed, customs set a value under section 25 of the Customs Act, and that value appears on your PSID.
Is the PTA tax on a 1TB iPhone 17 Pro higher?
Only if customs put a higher value on it. At a US$1,499 value the passport bill would be Rs 141,678, against Rs 114,012 at the 256GB launch price. The duty and levy do not change above US$700, so the whole difference is sales tax on the higher value.
Can I pay iPhone 17 Pro PTA tax in instalments?
Finance Act 2026 lets the sales tax part be paid in instalments within the financial year, under the procedure in FBR Circular 1 of 2026. Whether the option appears for your phone is shown in DIRBS when you generate the PSID, so check there before paying the full amount.
Every figure uses the US$1,099 launch price of the 256GB model, the 2026-27 rates and Rs 276.66 to the dollar, the State Bank rate of 6 November 2026. It is a guide, not an FBR assessment; the PSID that DIRBS issues for your IMEI is the amount due.
