Who qualifies for lifeline and protected
- Lifeline: single-phase connection, sanctioned load up to 1 kW, and no more than 100 units a month. Lifeline users get no slab benefit: 80 units are billed at Rs 7.74 each, not at Rs 3.95 for the first 50.
- Protected: 200 units or less in each of the last six months.
- Unprotected: everyone else.
If a lifeline home uses more than 100 units, the calculator moves it to unprotected rates.
Electricity duty and reading your bill
The merged districts are part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Whether electricity duty still appears on TESCO home bills is not confirmed, so match the duty box to your bill.
You need the units consumed and the sanctioned load in kW from your bill. If your bill is based on an estimated reading rather than a meter reading, the calculator can still show what those units should cost.

What is the lifeline electricity rate in 2026?
Rs 3.95 per unit for up to 50 units, and Rs 7.74 per unit for 51 to 100 units, under the February 2026 NEPRA tariff. All units are charged at the rate of the slab you land in. There is no fixed charge and no fuel or quarterly adjustment.
How much is a 100 unit TESCO bill?

Is the TESCO tariff different from PESCO?
No. TESCO, PESCO, HAZECO and the other companies all charge the same national uniform tariff notified in February 2026. The fuel and quarterly adjustments are set in the same NEPRA decisions for all of them.
Do lifeline users pay GST?
Yes. GST at 18% is charged on the cost of electricity and any duty, even on a lifeline bill. For 100 lifeline units that is about Rs 141.
