A licence is suspended when points in one year go above 20. Pay a camera e-challan within 15 days and a warden's ticket within 10 days to avoid extra charges.

In Punjab a motorcyclist without a helmet pays Rs 2,000, and a car up to 2000cc pays Rs 3,000 for jumping a signal and Rs 5,000 for over-speeding. Every fine also puts points on the driving licence. These amounts come from the schedule of the Provincial Motor Vehicles Ordinance, as replaced from 7 May 2026, and they are the same in Lahore, Rawalpindi and every other district of the province.

Choose your vehicle, tick each offence on the challan, and say when it will be paid. The calculator adds the fines, the 10% charge on an e-challan paid after 15 days or the doubled fine after a court case, and counts your points against the 20-point limit.

Punjab traffic fine list 2026 by vehicle

All 26 offences in the Twelfth Schedule, in rupees. A dash means the schedule sets no fine for that vehicle. The last column is the points charged on the licence with each fine.

Car up to 2000cc includes electric cars with a battery up to 106.5 kW. LTV covers wagons, coasters, pickups and other light passenger or goods carriers; HTV covers buses, trucks, tractors and trailers. The amount on a ticket is the one fixed in this schedule for the offence and vehicle.

Worked examples

Car e-challan with three offences, paid late. A Safe City camera records a 1300cc car jumping a red light while the driver is on the phone without a seat belt. The owner pays it three weeks after receiving it.

Item Amount
Signal violation Rs 3,000
No seat belt Rs 2,000
Mobile phone while driving Rs 3,000
Fines from the schedule Rs 8,000
10% added after 15 days Rs 800
Total Rs 8,800

The licence also takes 8 points: 3 for the signal, 2 for the seat belt and 3 for the phone. Paid within 15 days, the same challan would have cost Rs 8,000.

Motorcyclist with no helmet who jumps a signal. Rs 2,000 plus Rs 2,000 is Rs 4,000 and 5 points. If the warden's ticket is not paid and a court convicts the rider, the fine is doubled to Rs 8,000.

Truck stopped for over-speeding while overloaded. Rs 10,000 plus Rs 4,000 is Rs 14,000, with 7 points on the driver's licence.

What happens if a challan is not paid

The deadline depends on how the challan was issued.

  • Ticket from a traffic warden. The warden prints the ticket with a payment slip number (PSID) and may keep a document such as your licence. Pay within 10 days and the matter ends; the document is returned once the payment shows online. If you do not pay, the warden files a complaint in court, and a court that finds you guilty fines you double the amount on the ticket.
  • Camera e-challan. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority sends it to the registered owner, by post or electronically, within 7 days of the offence. The owner has 15 days from receiving it to pay or to contest it in court. After that the fine is linked to the vehicle's registration and to Police Khidmat Markaz records, and 10% is added when it is finally paid.

An e-challan that is still not paid can lead to the vehicle being impounded until the fine is cleared. If the owner does not pay within 30 working days of the impounding, another 10% of the outstanding fine is added every month, and once the amount reaches the value of the vehicle it can be auctioned through the court.

Licence points and repeat offences

Each offence carries 1 to 4 points. Over-speeding, wrong-way driving, reckless driving and driving without a licence carry 4; a signal violation or using a phone carries 3; no helmet or no seat belt carries 2.

When points collected within one year go above 20, the licensing authority must disqualify the driver from holding a licence for six months, and can extend that by another six. Enter the points you already have in the calculator to see how close you are. For example, a driver with 18 points who is caught jumping a signal in a car reaches 21 points, which is over the limit.

A repeat offence within one month costs 5% more than the previous fine. A car driver challaned twice in a month for over-speeding pays Rs 5,000 the first time and Rs 5,250 the second time.

Motorcycle challan fines, on time, late and in court

How to check and pay an e-challan in Punjab

  1. Open the Punjab Safe Cities Authority e-challan website or the PSCA Public Safety App.
  2. Enter the vehicle number (for example ABC 1234) and the owner's 13-digit CNIC, or the chassis number.
  3. Any pending e-challan appears with the offence, the date and the PSID number.
  4. Pay the PSID through a payment channel approved by the Punjab government, such as a banking app, a mobile wallet or a bank branch. Wardens do not take cash.

If you were not driving when the camera caught the vehicle, you can prove it before a traffic officer of grade 17 or above; if you do, the challan moves to the person who was driving. To dispute the offence itself, contest it in court within the 15 days. Once your challans are clear, see the Punjab driving licence fee for renewals and the Punjab token tax for yearly vehicle tax.

Fines and points as set by the Provincial Motor Vehicles (Second Amendment) Act 2026, published on 7 May 2026, and unchanged as at 13 October 2026. The amount printed on your challan is the one to pay; check it before paying.
