The DHA Lahore Construction and Development Regulations 2026 list the standard 5 marla plot as 25 ft × 45 ft (section 4.a). That is 1,125 sq ft, exactly 5 marla of 225 sq ft. Most private schemes copy this layout.

DHA Lahore
Section 22.a of the 2026 regulations requires clear spaces of 5 ft at the front, 3 ft at the rear and 3 ft on one side for a 5 marla plot. That leaves a ground floor of 22 × 37 = 814 sq ft. Section 27.a allows the first floor to cover 100% of the ground floor on 5 marla, so a double storey house can have about 1,628 sq ft covered, within the 39 ft height limit. Corner plots need the front clear space on both road sides, which reduces this.
LDA approved schemes
For plots of 5 marla and above but less than 10 marla, clause 2.2.3 of the LDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 allows 75% ground coverage, 3 storeys and 38 ft. Clause 2.2.1 asks for a 5 ft building line and 5 ft rear space. On a 25 × 45 ft plot the spaces leave 25 × 35 = 875 sq ft, but 75% of 1,125 is 843.75 sq ft, which is the limit.

5 marla in gaz, and Karachi yards
Karachi and most of Sindh sell plots in square yards (gaz), not marla. A 125 gaz plot there is the same area as a 5 marla society plot. The popular 120 gaz plot is 1,080 sq ft, which is 4.8 marla of 225 sq ft. For any other size, use marla to gaz.
