6 marla is 1,350 sq ft on the 225 sq ft marla, which is 150 gaz. Measured by a patwari on the 272.25 sq ft marla, 6 marla becomes 1,633.5 sq ft (181.5 gaz); on a 250 sq ft marla it is 1,500 sq ft.

6 marla is not one of DHA Lahore's standard plot sizes, which jump from 5 to 7 marla. It turns up as a corner plot, an odd plot at the end of a street, or a piece of land measured by a patwari.

Plot sides for 6 marla

With no standard layout, check that the sides really multiply to the area you are paying for. Common pairs for 1,350 sq ft:

• 25 × 54 ft, a 5 marla front made deeper
• 30 × 45 ft, a 5 marla depth made wider
• 27 × 50 ft

On the revenue marla, 6 marla is 54 square karam, for example 6 karam by 9 karam, which is 33 × 49.5 ft.

Worked example: revenue 6 marla in a society

You inherit land that the fard records as 6 marla, and a society next door values plots by its own 225 sq ft marla.

1. Revenue area: 6 × 272.25 = 1,633.5 sq ft.
2. In society marla: 1,633.5 ÷ 225 = 7.26 marla.
3. The land is worth more than a 6 marla society plot, closer to a 7 marla one (1,575 sq ft), and in fact 58.5 sq ft bigger than that.

Building on 6 marla (LDA)

6 marla falls in the LDA band "5 marla and above but less than 10 marla": 75% ground coverage, 3 storeys and 38 ft (clause 2.2.3, LDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2019), with a 5 ft building line and 5 ft rear space and no side space (clause 2.2.1).

On 25 × 54 ft, the spaces leave 25 × 44 = 1,100 sq ft, and 75% of 1,350 is 1,012.5 sq ft, the limit. On 30 × 45 ft they leave 1,050 sq ft, so the limit is again 1,012.5 sq ft. Other authorities differ. Cost it with the house construction cost calculator.
