There is no separate renewal fee. Renewing a passport costs the same as a new e-passport: Rs 13,500 for 36 pages and 10 years on normal, or Rs 9,000 for 5 years. Urgent renewal costs Rs 22,500 or Rs 15,000. Renewing online from Pakistan adds a portal service charge of Rs 1,000.

Online fees are paid by credit or debit card and are not refundable. At a passport office you pay the passport fee only, through a QR code after the interview.
Who can renew online
DGIP's online portal takes renewals from Pakistan and from abroad when all of these apply:
- your particulars are the same as in the previous passport and in NADRA's record
- you still have the previous passport
- it has expired, or has 1 year or less left
A change of particulars, such as a corrected date of birth or father's name, means applying at a passport office once NADRA has updated your CNIC. Overseas applicants can make a few changes online, such as marital status. A new photograph also needs a fresh passport at the full fee.
From abroad, the portal's service charge is Rs 2,500 plus taxes. You can also renew at your Pakistani mission, which charges in local currency or US dollars.
Renewing early, or long after expiry
DGIP puts no limit on renewing early. Under the Passport and Visa Manual 2006 you can get a passport with full 5 or 10 year validity while the old one still has time left; the office may ask for a short statement of why. The old passport is returned to you after it is processed.
The fee schedule has no late renewal charge, so a passport that expired years ago costs the same to renew as one that expired last week. If the old passport is lost, the lost passport fee applies instead: double the fee the first time, which is Rs 27,000 for 36 pages and 10 years on normal.
Worked examples
An old machine readable passport, renewed at the office. 36 pages, 10 years, normal: Rs 13,500. You receive an e-passport.
The same renewal online from Pakistan. Rs 13,500 plus the Rs 1,000 service charge comes to Rs 14,500.

A couple, one card expired. If a CNIC has expired, renew it before the passport, because DGIP asks for a valid one. The CNIC renewal fee starts at Rs 400 for a card without a chip.

From age 10, an updated B-form (CRC) with fingerprints and photograph, or a Juvenile Card. Under 10, a B-form or an FRC. Bring both parents' CNICs or passports; one parent comes along. Children under 15 get a 5 year passport only. If a child has no B-form yet, see the b form fees.
