A 1300cc car with a Rs 4,500,000 invoice pays Rs 13,750 for a filer: Rs 11,250 motor vehicle tax and Rs 2,500 income tax. Until June 2026 the same car paid a flat Rs 1,500.

The Finance Act 2026 made the change for Islamabad Capital Territory. Cars up to 1000cc pay Rs 20,000 once instead of Rs 10,000. Enter your car's cc and invoice value above.

The SUV paid Rs 8,000 motor vehicle tax a year before July 2026. A non-filer 1800cc car worth Rs 9,000,000 now pays Rs 22,500 plus Rs 9,000 income tax, Rs 31,500 in all.

Cars up to 1000cc and motorcycles

A car up to 1000cc pays Rs 20,000 once when registered, with a lump sum section 234 tax of Rs 10,000 for a filer, Rs 30,000 in all. After that nothing is due each year.

Motorcycles pay once: Rs 1,000 up to 200cc, Rs 2,000 for 201 to 400cc and Rs 5,000 above 400cc. Islamabad has not published a separate charge for moving a lifetime token to a new owner, so the calculator shows none; ask the excise office at the time of transfer.

Section 234 income tax collected with the token

The excise office collects this federal advance income tax along with the provincial tax. These are the FBR rates for 2026-27. A non-filer pays double.

Above 1,999ccRs 10,000Rs 20,000Rs 120,000Rs 240,000

The tax is adjustable against your income tax for the year. Under section 234(2A), it is not collected on a car once it has been in use for more than ten years in Pakistan. The lump sum column applies when the province collects the motor vehicle tax in one go, such as a lifetime token.

Unlike Punjab, the Islamabad schedule does not set a minimum based on the old rate, so a cheap older car can now pay little. The value used is the invoice value in the excise record, not today's market price. Registration and transfer fees in Islamabad are not covered because the current schedule could not be confirmed.

Islamabad token tax questions

What is the new token tax in Islamabad?

From 1 July 2026, Islamabad charges 0.25% of invoice value on private cars of 1001 to 2000cc and 0.35% on cars above 2000cc. Cars up to 1000cc pay Rs 20,000 once. Section 234 income tax is collected with it, from Rs 800 to Rs 10,000 a year for filers.

How much token tax for a 1300cc car in Islamabad?

0.25% of its invoice value plus Rs 2,500 income tax for a filer. On a Rs 4,500,000 car that is Rs 11,250 plus Rs 2,500, Rs 13,750 in total. A non-filer pays Rs 5,000 income tax instead, so Rs 16,250.

Is the Rs 20,000 for a 1000cc car paid every year?

No. It replaces the earlier Rs 10,000 lifetime token for cars up to 1000cc and is paid once, at registration. The income tax with it is also a one-off lump sum, Rs 10,000 for a filer.

Does Islamabad give a lifetime token for bigger cars?

The schedule substituted by the Finance Act 2026 lists only yearly percentage rates for cars above 1000cc. The one-time amount applies to cars up to 1000cc and to motorcycles.
