Punjab stopped making government number plates and stopped charging a plate fee in February 2026. Owners have plates made in the market to the approved design; that cost is not an excise charge.

The 70cc bike registration fee in Punjab is Rs 1,000, and with the Rs 1,500 lifetime token tax and the Rs 1,300 smart card a new 70cc motorcycle costs Rs 3,800 to register in 2026. That is the whole excise bill for a new Honda CD 70 or any other bike in the up to 70cc band. No yearly token is due after that, and Punjab no longer charges for number plates.

Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad work differently: Sindh and KP take a share of the bike's price, and Islamabad sets its motorcycle fee at the counter. Pick your province and type the price from your invoice to see your own total.

Worked example: one 70cc bike, three provinces

Take a new 70cc motorcycle with an invoice price of Rs 160,000.

Punjab. Registration fee for up to 70cc: Rs 1,000. Lifetime token tax: Rs 1,500. Smart card: Rs 1,300. Number plates: none. Total Rs 3,800, whatever the price.

Sindh (Karachi). Registration fee at 1% of the price: Rs 1,600. Lifetime token for bikes up to 149cc: Rs 1,800. Ajrak number plates: Rs 1,850. Total Rs 5,250.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Registration fee at 1% of the price: Rs 1,600. Lifetime token: Rs 2,500. Number plates, registration book and scanning: Rs 892. Total Rs 4,992.

No province adds advance income tax: section 231B of the Income Tax Ordinance leaves motorcycles up to 200cc out of its definition of a motor vehicle, so filers and non-filers pay the same.

Does the bike's price change the fee?

Registration taxes and fees for a 70cc bike at a few example prices:

Price of the 70cc bikePunjabSindhKhyber Pakhtunkhwa
Rs 140,000Rs 3,800Rs 5,050Rs 4,792
Rs 160,000Rs 3,800Rs 5,250Rs 4,992
Rs 180,000Rs 3,800Rs 5,450Rs 5,192
Rs 200,000Rs 3,800Rs 5,650Rs 5,392

Punjab charges a fixed fee by engine size, so the price makes no difference there. Sindh and KP charge 1% of the price, so a dearer bike costs a little more to register. Use the price on your sales invoice, as the excise office does.

Just above 70cc? Check your sales certificate

Punjab's fee follows the engine capacity on the sales certificate and invoice. Up to 70cc pays Rs 1,000; from 71 to 100cc the fee is Rs 1,500, so the same bill becomes Rs 4,300. Sindh and KP charge the same rates for any bike below 150cc, and Islamabad's token is the same up to 200cc.

Moving up to a 125cc bike? See the honda 125 registration fee in punjab page. Buying a used CD 70 instead of a new one, the bike transfer fee calculator works out the transfer cost. Other engine sizes are on the main page for bike registration fees in pakistan.

How registration works in Punjab

Most new bikes in Punjab are registered through the dealer under the Excise department's Dealer Vehicle Registration System. You give the dealer Form F, a copy of your CNIC and the original sales certificate and invoice, and the smart card is sent to you by courier. Punjab Excise allows the dealer a service charge of up to Rs 500 for a motorcycle under this system, on top of the fees above.

You can also register at the excise office yourself. Do it within 30 days of purchase: after that Punjab adds a late fee of Rs 500 for a motorcycle. Since February 2026 Punjab no longer issues government number plates; you have plates made in the market to the approved design.

The bike prices on this page are examples, not any maker's price list. Fancy number charges, late fees and dealer charges other than the ones named are not included. The amount on your excise challan is final.
