Two 2 kanal layouts in DHA
Section 4.a of the DHA Lahore Construction and Development Regulations 2026 gives the 2 kanal plot as 100 ft × 90 ft or 75 ft × 120 ft. Both are 9,000 sq ft, but section 22.a sets different clear spaces:

The first floor may be 78% of the ground floor (section 27.a), so a double storey is about 10,393 sq ft on the narrow plot and 10,465 sq ft on the wide one. The wide plot gives more frontage to the street; the deep plot gives a bigger lawn at the front.
2 kanal under LDA rules
From 2 kanal upward, the LDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 ask for a 20 ft building line, 10 ft rear space and 10 ft on both sides (clause 2.2.1), with 55% ground coverage, 4 storeys and 45 ft (clause 2.2.3). 55% of 9,000 is 4,950 sq ft.
- 75 × 120 ft: the spaces leave 55 × 90 = 4,950 sq ft, exactly the limit.
- 100 × 90 ft: they leave 80 × 60 = 4,800 sq ft, so the spaces decide.
LDA's draft amendments of June 2021 proposed 7 ft rear and side spaces for plots of 2 to less than 4 kanal. Ask LDA which version applies when you file the map.
Why 1,000 gaz is a common upper size
The Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Sub-division Rules 2010 capped a residential plot in a general housing scheme at 1,000 square yards, which is exactly 2 kanal of 225 sq ft. DHA Islamabad and Rawalpindi's byelaws also have a 1,000 sq yd plot category. So 2 kanal is often the biggest house plot a scheme sells.
