An Askari Bank account number has 13 digits: a 3-digit branch code and a 10-digit account number that ends in a check digit. Its IBAN is PK, two check digits, ASCM, three zeros and the 13 digits, so 001-0123456789 gives PK09ASCM0000010123456789.
Type your account number above. The calculator pads it with zeros to the 16 digits an IBAN needs and works out the check digits.
13 digits or 14?
Askari Bank's own IBAN generator asks for a 13-digit account number: a 3-digit branch code followed by a 10-digit account number including its check digit. Allied Bank's interbank format sheet writes the same account with a 4-digit branch code, 14 digits in all, such as 0001-0123456789.
Both give the same IBAN, because the extra digit is a leading zero:
| You type | Digits | IBAN |
|---|---|---|
| 001-0123456789 | 13 | PK09ASCM0000010123456789 |
| 0001-0123456789 | 14 | PK09ASCM0000010123456789 |
If you do not know the last digit of your account number, Askari Bank asks you to contact your branch rather than guess it.
Worked example: account 001-0123456789
- Pad to 16 digits: 0000010123456789.
- Move PK00 to the end: ASCM0000010123456789PK00.
- Letters to numbers (A = 10, S = 28, C = 12, M = 22, P = 25, K = 20): 102812220000010123456789252000.
- Remainder after dividing by 97: 89. Check digits: 98 minus 89 = 09.
IBAN: PK09ASCM0000010123456789. A transfer form that asks for 24 characters needs all of it, including the three zeros after ASCM.
Where Askari shows your IBAN
Askari Bank says the IBAN appears on your account statements and balance reports, and that it is not shown in online banking. Its website has its own IBAN generator, which needs the full 13 digits. Your account number itself stays the same; the IBAN is the same account written in the international format.
Sending money to someone at another bank? Use the IBAN generator for all banks, or check the IBAN they sent you with the Check an IBAN tab.
Mistakes that give a wrong Askari IBAN
- Dropping the leading zeros of the branch code. Branch 001 typed as 1 leaves 11 digits. The calculator warns when an Askari number is not 13 or 14 digits.
- Leaving off the check digit. The tenth digit of the account part belongs to the account number. Without it you have 12 digits and the IBAN comes out wrong.
- Swapping two digits. PK09 ASCM 0000 0101 2345 6798 is the example IBAN with its last two digits reversed. Check an IBAN finds a remainder of 50 instead of 1 and says the check digits would need to be 57.
Check the IBAN against your Askari statement before you share it; a single wrong digit can send money astray or hold it up. This site is independent of Askari Bank.
Askari Bank account and IBAN questions
How many digits is an Askari Bank account number?
Thirteen: a 3-digit branch code and a 10-digit account number with a check digit at the end. Some forms show it with a 4-digit branch code as 14 digits, such as 0001-0123456789. The IBAN is the same either way.
What is Askari Bank's IBAN code?
ASCM. Every Askari Bank IBAN starts PK, then two check digits, then ASCM, then 16 digits made of zeros and your account number.
Why can't I see my IBAN in Askari online banking?
Askari Bank says its online banking does not show the IBAN. It is printed on your account statements and balance reports, and you can generate it here or with the bank's own tool from the 13-digit number.
Does an Askari IBAN include the branch code?
Yes. The 13 digits, branch code included, make up the end of the IBAN after ASCM and three zeros. Nothing is removed from the account number.
How do I check an Askari IBAN someone sent me?
Choose Check an IBAN and paste it. A valid IBAN leaves a remainder of 1 when its rearranged digits are divided by 97. Anything else means a digit is wrong, and the calculator shows what the check digits should be.
