A Bank Alfalah IBAN is PK, two check digits, ALFH, your 4-digit branch code, 00, then your 10-digit account number. The 14-digit Alfalah account number is the branch code followed by the 10 digits, so 1234-1001234567 becomes PK72ALFH1234001001234567.
Type the 14 digits above, with or without the dash. The calculator splits off the branch code, puts the two zeros in, and works out the check digits.
Where the 14 digits go in an Alfalah IBAN
| Part | Example | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Country | PK | 2 letters |
| Check digits | 72 | 2 |
| Bank code | ALFH | 4 letters |
| Branch code | 1234 | 4 |
| Zeros | 00 | 2 |
| Account number | 1001234567 | 10 |
Allied Bank's January 2023 sheet of account formats for interbank transfers gives Bank Alfalah's conventional account number as BBBBAAAAAAAAAA: a 4-digit branch code and a 10-digit account number, 14 digits in all. The two zeros fill the IBAN's 16-digit account part, so Alfalah keeps the branch code in the IBAN, unlike UBL, which leaves it out.
Bank Alfalah's own example
The IBAN page on Bank Alfalah's website shows the result PK44 ALFH 4444 0001 2345 6789. Read with the layout above, that is branch 4444 and account number 0123456789. Enter 4444-0123456789 here and you get PK44ALFH4444000123456789, the same IBAN, with check digits 44.
Alfalah's branchless banking accounts are different: the format sheet says their account number is always the 11-digit mobile number. This calculator does not build IBANs for those; ask the bank for the IBAN of a branchless account.
Worked example: branch 1234, account 1001234567
- 16-digit part: 1234 + 00 + 1001234567 = 1234001001234567.
- Move PK00 to the end: ALFH1234001001234567PK00.
- Letters to numbers (A = 10, L = 21, F = 15, H = 17, P = 25, K = 20): 102115171234001001234567252000.
- Remainder after dividing by 97: 26. Check digits: 98 minus 26 = 72.
IBAN: PK72ALFH1234001001234567. Paste it into Check an IBAN above and the remainder comes out as 1, the sign of a well formed IBAN.
Islamic banking accounts
Most Alfalah Islamic accounts follow the same 14-digit layout and the calculator handles them in the same way. The interbank format sheet also lists an Islamic format of 18 digits: the 4-digit branch code and a 14-digit account number. A 14-digit account number cannot fit after the branch code in the 16-digit IBAN, so if your number has 18 digits the calculator will say so. Take that IBAN from your statement instead.
Before you give your IBAN to an employer or a client abroad, match it with your Bank Alfalah statement. This site has no link with Bank Alfalah.
Bank Alfalah IBAN questions
How many digits is a Bank Alfalah account number?
Fourteen for a conventional account: a 4-digit branch code and a 10-digit account number, often written 1234-1001234567. The IBAN keeps all 14, adds two zeros after the branch code, and puts PK, two check digits and ALFH in front, 24 characters in all.
What is Bank Alfalah's IBAN bank code?
ALFH. These four letters come after PK and the check digits in every Bank Alfalah IBAN, and they are also the first four letters of the bank's SWIFT code.
Where do I find my Bank Alfalah IBAN?
The State Bank asked every bank to print the IBAN on its account statements, so your statement is the first place to look. Bank Alfalah also has an IBAN generator on its website. The 14-digit account number is on your cheque book.
Is the branch code part of a Bank Alfalah IBAN?
Yes. The first four digits after ALFH are the branch code, then come two zeros and the 10-digit account number. If you leave the branch code out, the calculator cannot build the IBAN and asks for all 14 digits.
Can I make the IBAN of an Alfa branchless account here?
No. Branchless banking accounts use the 11-digit mobile number as the account number, which does not follow the branch account layout. Ask Bank Alfalah for that IBAN.
