An HBL IBAN is PK, two check digits, HABB, then 00 and your 14-digit account number. The 14 digits are a 4-digit branch code, an 8-digit account number and a 2-digit account type, written like 1234-00123456-01.
Type the 14 digits above and the IBAN appears. For 1234-00123456-01 it is PK09 HABB 0012 3400 1234 5601.

This 14-digit layout is the one in Allied Bank's January 2023 sheet of account number formats for interbank transfers. We checked it against five real HBL IBANs published with their account numbers by TCF and Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, including an HBL Islamic account. All match and pass the ISO check, as do the HBL IBANs published by Al-Shifa Trust. HBL Islamic accounts use the same HABB code.
Where to find your HBL IBAN
Your 14-digit account number is printed on your cheque book and shown under account details in the HBL Mobile app, which also shows the IBAN. It is on your account statement too.
HBL Konnect accounts are different: HBL says the Konnect account number is your mobile number. This calculator does not cover Konnect; take the IBAN from the Konnect app.
Worked example
Branch 1234, account 00123456, type 01:
- 16-digit part: 00 + 12340012345601 = 0012340012345601.
- Rearranged: HABB0012340012345601PK00.
- Letters to numbers (H = 17, A = 10, B = 11, P = 25, K = 20): 171011110012340012345601252000.
- Remainder after dividing by 97: 89. Check digits: 98 minus 89 = 09.
IBAN: PK09 HABB 0012 3400 1234 5601.

Confirm the IBAN in HBL Mobile or on your statement before sharing it. A wrong IBAN can send money to the wrong place. This site is not linked to HBL.
HBL IBAN questions
How many digits is an HBL account number?
Fourteen for a normal HBL branch account: 4-digit branch code, 8-digit account number and a 2-digit account type. With PK, two check digits, HABB and two zeros, the IBAN has 24 characters.
What is HBL's IBAN bank code?
HABB, the first four letters of HBL's SWIFT code. It is the same for HBL conventional and HBL Islamic accounts in Pakistan.
Can I generate an HBL IBAN without the branch code?
No. The branch code is part of the 14-digit account number and part of the IBAN. It is the first four digits on your cheque book; the calculator warns you if the number you type is not 14 digits.
Why does my HBL IBAN start PK and two numbers before HABB?
Those two numbers are the check digits. They are worked out from the rest of the IBAN so that typing mistakes can be caught. They are different for every account, which is why two HBL IBANs rarely share them.
