In Islamabad a car or motorcycle driving licence costs Rs 3,000, and a professional licence for LTV or HTV costs Rs 10,000. Add Rs 200 for the medical, Rs 200 for the road test and Rs 2,000 for the digital licence card. A learner permit costs Rs 1,000 for six months.
These flat fees were set by the Chief Commissioner's office in May 2024. Unlike Punjab, the fee does not change with the number of years.

Taxi or van driver needing LTV. Professional licence Rs 10,000, medical Rs 200, LTV road test Rs 300, card Rs 2,000: Rs 12,500, plus the learner permit if you do not have one. For HTV the road test is Rs 500, so the total is Rs 12,700.
Renewal three months after expiry. Rs 2,500 for renewal between 30 days and one year after expiry, plus Rs 2,000 if you also take the digital card.
Islamabad compared with Punjab
Islamabad is dearer for a short licence and similar for a long one. A car licence costs Rs 5,400 with the card in Islamabad, against Rs 1,980 for 1 year or Rs 7,380 for 5 years in Punjab. On 2 July 2026 Dawn reported that the Auditor General called these May 2024 increases 'abnormally high', between 100% and 733% above the 2018 rates, and recommended a review. No change had been reported by 30 September 2026.
The Islamabad Traffic Police site could not be opened by our tools on 30 September 2026, so these fees come from Dawn and ARY News reports of the notification. Reports differ on renewal between 30 days and a year after expiry (Rs 2,500 in Dawn, Rs 3,500 in another outlet). Renewal 1 to 3 years late (Rs 3,000) and more than 3 years late (Rs 8,000) and the LTV and HTV road test fees are as listed by Dawn only. Confirm at the ITP licensing branch.
