Enter two dates to count the days between them. From 1 January to 31 December 2026 is 365 days if you count both dates, or 364 if you leave out the last one. The result also shows years, months and days, weeks, and the number of weekdays.
Switch to Add or subtract to find a date a set time away: 90 days after 30 September 2026 is Tuesday 29 December 2026, and 6 months after it is 30 March 2027.
With or without the end date
The plain difference between two dates leaves out one of them. From Monday to Friday is 4 days on this count, because the gap between the two dates is 4 days. That is the right answer for questions like "how many days until" or "how many days since".
For leave, notice periods, hospital stays or contracts, both the first and the last day usually count. Tick Include the end date and Monday to Friday becomes 5 days. Leave from 1 October to 30 October 2026 is 30 days with both days counted.

Worked example
From Independence Day, 14 August 2026, to 25 December 2026, without the end date:
- August: 31 minus 14 = 17 days
- September 30, October 31, November 30 = 91 days
- December: 25 days
- Total: 17 + 91 + 25 = 133 days
That is 4 months and 11 days, or 19 weeks. Of those days, 95 are Monday to Friday weekdays. The calculator counts weekdays but does not remove public holidays; the working days calculator takes off Pakistan's gazetted holidays as well.
Adding months and years
Days and weeks are exact: 90 days is always 90 days. Months and years are calendar units, so the day of the month stays the same: 30 September plus 6 months is 30 March.
When that day does not exist, the date moves back to the last day of the month. 31 January plus 1 month is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year such as 2028. 29 February 2024 plus 1 year is 28 February 2025. Excel's EDATE function works the same way.
To count backwards, choose Subtract. 1 March 2024 minus 1 day is 29 February 2024, because 2024 was a leap year.

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?
Count the days left in the first month, add the full months in between, then add the days in the last month. Or let the calculator do it: enter both dates and it gives the total. Tick the box if both the first and last days should count, as they do for leave.
How many days are there in 2026?
- 2026 is not a leap year, so February has 28 days. The next leap year is 2028, which has 366 days. 2026 has 261 weekdays from Monday to Friday, before public holidays are taken off.
How do I count days between dates in Excel?
Subtract the earlier date from the later one: =B1-A1, with the result formatted as a number. Add 1 if both days should count. For weekdays only, use =NETWORKDAYS(A1,B1), which counts both ends and can also take a list of holidays.
What date is 100 days from today?
Choose Add or subtract, leave the start date as today's date, enter 100 and pick days. The result shows the date and its weekday. Counting 100 days does not count today itself, so tomorrow is day 1.
How many weeks are there between two dates?
Divide the days by 7. The calculator shows full weeks and the days left over. From 14 August to 25 December 2026 is 133 days, which is exactly 19 weeks.
